KVA boys, girls win in Raleigh

Kerr-Vance rolled to a 73-38 win at St. Thomas More Academy in Raleigh Tuesday. The varsity boys improved to 9-0 with the win.

“We played really well tonight. It was one of our better games of the year,” said KVA coach Dave Carrier. “We jumped on them early and kept the pressure on them.”

Derrius Perry had 16 points and 10 rebounds for KVA. Tyson Carrier and Hayes Griggs were also in double figures with 13 and 10, respectively. Hunter Layton added eight.

All 12 Spartan players in uniform scored.

Friday, KVA hosts Calvary Baptist, the fourth-ranked team in NCISAA 2-A.

Lady Spartans notch seventh win
The Kerr-Vance varsity girls basketball team overcame a sluggish start to earn a 46-23 win at St. Thomas More Academy in Raleigh Tuesday.

The Spartans (7-2) led 29-14 at halftime.

KVA coach Brian Russell said his team moved the ball better than in any previous game.

Price Wester led the team with 14 points and Rebecca Ross had 12.

The Spartans host Calvary Baptist on Friday.
