Crossroads Christian is in sixth place out of eight schools after the first day of competition Monday in the N.C. Independent School Athletic Association 1-A state tourney.

The Colts shot a 419. Head coach Aaron Hale said Elon School is well out in front of the competition at Pinehurst’s Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club.

Crossroads’ D.J. Matthews shot a 91, putting him 13th place individually entering today’s final round.

Hale said an Elon School golfer is in front after shooting a 78. He was the only player to break 80 on a windy day in Moore County. Hale added that the greens were hard and playing fast and that the course had been tough on the entire field.
