Local Roundup: KVA baseball shuts out St. David's

The Kerr-Vance varsity baseball team shut out St. David’s 8-0 Friday behind five innings of work from senior pitcher Tyson Carrier, who struck out nine Warrior batters.

Freshman Dustin Smith finished out the game for the Spartans, fanning four.

Smith and Adam Medlin each had two base hits and Wyatt Evans added another.

Catcher Lane Humphries threw out two baserunners and picked another off at first base.

KVA soccer drops game to St. David’s

Kerr-Vance dropped to 1-1-1 in Eastern Plains Independent Conference play Friday with a 1-0 loss to St. David’s.

KVA coach Amy Johnson said goalkeeper Jessica Darnell and defenders Rebecca Ross and Price Wester played well in the loss.

The Spartans have three games this week, beginning with Halifax Academy at home Monday.

JV Spartans blank Warriors

The Kerr-Vance junior varsity soccer team defeated St. David’s 3-0 Friday behind goals from Lily Parker, Meghan O’Leary and Emily Overby.

Nicole Dunkley and Holly Steg recorded assists for the Spartans.

KVA tennis defeated by St. David’s

Kerr-Vance was shut out by St. David’s Friday.

The Spartans are back in action Tuesday at Parrott Academy.
