Local Roundup: Crawford Crazies power KVA boys to victory
Motivated by a strong home crowd, the Kerr-Vance varsity boys basketball team defeated Grace Christian of Raleigh 75-60 Friday night in a packed Crawford Gym.
The Spartans (7-0, 4-0) led by one point at halftime.
“Our student section was unbelievable,” said KVA coach Dave Carrier. “I really think the crowd played a big role in us winning the game.”
R.J. Hunt led KVA with 28 points and Brandon Dickerson had 21.
“It was a real team effort,” said Carrier. “It seems like every night we have a guy stepping up, making big plays for us at key times.”
KVA hosts American Hebrew Academy Monday.
Spartan varsity girls top Faith
Rachel Ross led Kerr-Vance with 13 points and the Spartan varsity girls took down Grace Christian of Raleigh 38-25 Friday.
KVA improved to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Spartan coach Brian Russell said it was probably the best all-around game his team has played this season.
Price Wester and Cristin Abbott both had eight points for KVA.
The Spartans host American Hebrew Academy Monday.
Spartan JV boys get fourth win
The Kerr-Vance junior varsity boys basketball team improved to 4-3 with a 36-29 win over Grace Christian of Raleigh Friday.
Leading the Spartans were Sam Fuquay (12 points), Daniel Wilkerson (six points), Jordan Coghill (six points) and Jordan Smith (four points, 10 rebounds).
KVA is back in action on Friday.
