Northern draws with Granville Central

Northern Vance started with a full complement of players on Thursday at Granville Central, but that changed early in the second half when Michelle Pham was taken down inside the box.

Pham earned a penalty that was converted by Hannah Burgess to put the Vikings ahead 2-1, but Pham didn’t return and Northern played down a player for the last 37 minutes as the Panthers equalized to force a 2-2 draw.

Granville Central tied the score with about three and a half minutes to play.

Burgess, a junior defender, scored the other goal for Northern (0-1-2) on an assist from Stephanie Garcia.

Northern hosts league and state power Cardinal Gibbons on Monday.
