Wolfpack adds Alabama transfer Lacey to program

North Carolina State has added Alabama transfer Trevor Lacey.Lacey will sit out this season and have two years of eligibility. In a statement from the school Tuesday, coach Mark Gottfried said Lacey "is a winner and really understands the game."

UNC's AD mulling upgrades to Smith Center, Fetzer

World Series: Hoosiers stymie Louisville, 2-0

Joey DeNato dispelled the notion that College World Series newcomer Indiana is all about offense. The junior left-hander threw a four-hitter and the Hoosiers looked mighty comfortable at TD Ameritrade Park while beating Louisville 2-0 on Saturday night.

North Carolina, the No. 1 overall seed, made it to the College World Series. It just took a few more twists and turns than usual. No matter. Today the Tar Heels start the same as the other trio of teams in their double-elimination pool. And first up is a treat: Tobacco Road rival N.C. State.

Mississippi State's Wes Rea drove the ball into right-center for a two-run double that gave Mississippi State the lead, and closer Jonathan Holder worked out of trouble twice to secure a 5-4 victory Saturday in the opening game of the College World Series.
