Vanguards driven to succeed on hardwood in 2014-15

The focus and attitude has changed for Vance-Granville Community College basketball coach Michael Woody and his team as they enter year two with Woody being at the helm.

“The expectations are pretty high,” Woody said last month at the team’s media day. “Looking at the team I had last year, I was hoping we would be more successful than we were. But I use that to build experience and to build their confidence.”

The 2013-14 Vanguards roster featured just six players and Woody was dealt a challenging hand as he happened to be hired less than two months before the regular season began.
