Former Raiders Taylor, Terry excelling on next level
Former Southern Vance standout Tremanisha Taylor claimed a shot put gold medal for N.C. State at last weekend’s ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The redshirt sophomore threw an indoor-best 53’ 7.00” to take home the crown. The mark broke the Wolfpack indoor record, making Taylor the first N.C. State thrower to win the women’s shot put at an ACC indoor championship meet.
The team finished fourth in the meet and Clemson took home the team title for the fourth straight year.
Taylor is now turning her focus to improving her marks to receive a bid to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held March 8-9 at the University of Arkansas.
Terry impressing at Western Carolina
Shauna Terry, a teammate of Tremanisha Taylor’s in three different sports at Southern, has been impressive for her Western Carolina basketball team this season.
Terry leads the Catamounts in rebounds and blocks and is fourth in scoring.
Terry recorded consecutive games in double figure scoring for the first time in her career last month, netting 13 in a win over Georgia Southern and a career-high 21 in a loss to Wofford.
The junior forward has also moved into fourth for career blocks at Western.
