Henderson’s Becky Anderson made history for Vance-Granville, becoming the first Vanguard in any sport to participate in a national postseason tournament.

Anderson appeared in the National Junior College Athletic Association women’s golf national championship last month in Mesa, Ariz. She finished 52nd out of 127 student-athletes representing 27 two-year colleges.

Anderson shot 360 over four rounds of play at the Longbow Golf Course. That was the second-lowest score among players from the Region X Conference.

Anderson finished sixth in April’s Region X championship in South Carolina with a two-day total of 185.

VGCC’s Jake Rinker competed in the Region X men’s tourney at Craven Community College, posting a two-day total of 216.
Anderson and Rinker each finished the academic year with 4.0 GPAs.
