Carolina football looking black and blue for 2013

North Carolina unveiled new uniforms for the upcoming football season at Saturday's spring game.

These are no minor tweaks - this is a major overhaul. Check out video of the new duds here.

Most notable is the added black on the home and away jerseys. The black numbers on the Carolina blue home jerseys isn't the best look, but the away whites - with the white helmet that debuted last season is a winner along with the all-black alternate kits.

Coach Larry Fedora and company have clearly placed an emphasis on style. And Carolina has become the state's leader in bold risks in that department, highlighted by the chrome Heel-helmet-look that premiered in the N.C. State game last season.

N.C. State and Duke have each embraced black in recent years, but neither have strayed too far from the norm. Do be on the lookout for Wake Forest to be more daring in 2013.

Down in Greenville, East Carolina has been sporting one of the more unconventional helmets in the country, but many fans are clamoring for more changes. Could black also in the Pirates future? Stay tuned.
