East Carolina tabbed as East Division favorites

East Carolina was voted to finish first Wednesday in the Conference USA East Division by the league’s 14 head coaches.

ECU secured 11 of 14 first-place votes for a total of 95 points to finish ahead of Marshall (82) and Middle Tennessee State (70).
The Pirates finished 8-5 last season with a 7-1 league finish (co-divisional champion) and return 16 of 22 positional starters with eight each on offense and defense.
Defending C-USA champion Tulsa was chosen unanimously as the preseason favorite to win the West Division with 98 points, followed by Rice (76) and new member Louisiana Tech (72).
