The Carolina RailHawks have earned the right to host back-to-back Major League Soccer champion Los Angeles Galaxy after Tuesday’s 3-1 win over amateur side Carolina Dynamo in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup.

The RailHawks play in the U.S. Soccer Federation Division II North American Soccer League, one level below MLS. They’ll host Los Angeles Wednesday, May 29 looking for a repeat of last season when the Cary team knocked the Galaxy out of the third round of the Cup tourney in front of a sold-out WakeMed Soccer Park.

The U.S. Open Cup is a century-old tournament open to both amateur and professional U.S. Soccer-affiliated clubs.

In other second-round Open Cup action, the Charlotte Eagles eliminated the Seattle Sounders U-23s Tuesday and will host MLS side Chicago Fire Tuesday, May 28. The Wilmington Hammerheads knocked off the amateur Austin Aztex and will visit Portland Timbers of MLS Wednesday.
