Letter: Henderson’s free riders should pay
To the editor:
A noted writer once wrote, “The hottest places in Hades are reserved for those people who choose to do nothing.”
I could not help but think of this quote when I read in The Dispatch our city manager has told the city council a tax increase for the citizens of Henderson is necessary.
By the same token, just a few weeks ago, there were listed several pages of people and businesses who have paid no taxes at all. What is being done about it?
If I allowed my charge customers to go for years and not pay their bills, I would have been put out of business years ago.
As my daddy would say, “If you can’t pay for your ticket, then don’t get on the bus.”
We have had free riders long enough. It is time they pay for their ticket or we kick them off the bus. Let them pay their own way.
