Letter: Church Watch on Thursday
To the editor:
Since the protection of church property and parishioners is of utmost importance, we have developed a program called “Church Watch.” As a result of that, the Henderson Police Department, Henderson Fire Department, Vance County Sheriff’s Office and Crime Stoppers want to partner with churches and a representative of each church to attend a special training session on Thursday, Aug. 28 from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
The training being offered this time is child abuse. Presentations will be made by the following persons and agencies:
• Meredith Houchins, supervisor in the Child Protective Services Division, Vance County Social Services.
• Representative from Henderson Police Department.
• Allison Capps, assistant district attorney, Henderson.
We will try to answer questions about the churches role in combating the problem we have with child abuse. There will be presentations, materials available and other items offered to help us with coming to some conclusions about this matter.
The church is located at 905 Americal Road, Henderson, and the phone number is (252) 438-3322 to receive more information. We are requesting that every pastor attend and at least one deacon or trustee of the church.
We guarantee this will be worth the time and effort.
I can answer questions at the number listed or by email at email@example.com. Questions can also be sent by email to Rev. Frank Sossamon at firstname.lastname@example.org or to (retired) Lt. Irvin Robinson at (252) 430-3140 and by email at irobinson@email@example.com.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the training.
