Letter: Church, businesses pitch in at school

To the editor:

On Aug. 16 and 17, Cokesbury United Methodist Church offered a gracious and powerful mission to the Carver Elementary family.

The dedicated members of this wonderful church and their new pastor, Julia Alliger, diligently worked to beautify our school by planting flowers, laying mulch, and landscaping several areas of our grounds that needed some TLC. These delightful people also partnered with several local businesses including Vulcan, Sisters in the Vine vinyl lettering, Burger King and Piedmont Landscaping to provide us with some necessary materials and supplies to complete the beautification effort.

As our teachers returned to school on Monday, they were blown away by the beautiful makeover.

Our students and staff are incredibly fortunate to have community advocates like the fine people at Cokesbury United Methodist Church and I am especially grateful to them for helping us start our year off on a very positive note.
