Letter: Animal control does the job

To the Editor:

I want to share my appreciation for the animal control officers.

Even on an icy Saturday morning, we called Vance County Animal Control when a large raccoon appeared looking into the door of our patio. Our two dogs were barking at him, a German shepherd and a Chihuahua. The raccoon showed no fear, which made us suspect a rabid animal.

This one call to Frankie Nobles made us look up within the hour to see two men with equipment to handle the raccoon and he was trapped in a short time and on his way – away from us and our dogs.
