Letter: Three did the right thing
To the editor:
July 4 is traditionally recognized as Independence Day, although the official date should be Aug. 2, the actual day the delegates met and signed the declaration.
So as we go forth toward the official 238th anniversary of our independence from a tyrannical government who imposed taxes without consent, we should extend a thank you to three county commissioners: Dan Brummitt, Gordon Wilder and Eddie Wright. They each, for their own reason, voted to oppose the county budget.
It is a budget that includes using city and county property tax dollars to make loan payments on the county’s residential water system, a county residential water system the majority of county property owners did not want, and a system that does not serve any city property owners.
