Letter: Day of Prayer is Thursday
To the editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend the 63rd National Day of Prayer to be held on Thursday.
The Ministers in Community Partnership has four events planned to observe the National Day of Prayer. Three events will be held at the Maria Parham Medical Center, City Hall and the Vance County Courthouse, all at noon on Thursday. We have a giant prayer rally scheduled at 7 p.m. at the Southern Vance High School football stadium.
This year’s theme, “So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,” is based on Romans 15:6. The Lord hears and responds to His children’s cry for help. He is their strength, refuge and courage in personal and national times of suffering, despair and loss.
Shirley Dobson, the chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, said, “This is a critical time to be in prayer for our country. The biblical principles upon which America was founded are under attack in every segment of society. We pray God will raise righteous leaders for our country.”
We want to encourage everyone to come out and unite with us in prayer for our community, our country and our leaders.
