Letter: Column was not timed well

To the Editor:

Perhaps syndicated columnist Susan Brown will wish she had waited a day before writing her column “Earning trust is crucial for Obama in Israel.” In it, she attacked the Obama administration’s policy toward Israel.

Had she waited a day, she may have seen how the conservative newspaper Jerusalem Post headlined his visit with the words “You had us a Shalom,” or how he received high praise from Prime Minister Netanyahu, and a standing ovation from the students he addressed.

And while it is true that the U.S did not actively engage in the 1967 war, perhaps it was because Israel preemptively attacked the Arab nations (using U.S.-made tanks) and did not require our support, or maybe because Israeli air and sea forces attacked the USS Liberty in international waters killing 37 Americans and wounding over 100 more. Be that as it may, the U.S. has and always will remain Israel’s one true friend.
