Letter: Medical community helps out athletes
To the editor:
On June 5 close to 200 Vance County student-athletes were the recipients of free physicals.
The annual physicals are required for athletes to participate in the upcoming school year. This event is made possible with the participation and cooperation of many fine medical personnel here in Vance County. Without their assistance, many of our students would not be able to play legally and safely.
Although the “thank-you” is late, it is sincerely heartfelt. Many kudos go to Dr. Franklin Mills, Dr. Robert Noel, Dr. Mark Dubinski, Dr. Benjamin Dieter, Dr. Kristine Schmit, Dr. William Dennis, Dr. Rodwell Drake, Dr. Raphael Negron, Dr. Gary Smith and Dr. Lakshmi Kanth. Special thanks also to Will Valentine, Nadine Green, Angel Hodges, Kim Moody, Sandra Reams, Allison Hayhurst, Celia Brinker, Steve Neunkirchner and Sophia Ford. Kim Moody also deserves an extra “thanks” for enlisting the assistance staff.
Vance County is fortunate to have some of the finest medical professionals anywhere. Their knowledge and willingness to share with others make us proud and thankful.
On behalf of my fellow athletic directors in the county, and our student-athletes, “Thank you!”
