Letter: Disappointing Christmas news
To the editor:
I moved to Henderson recently and don’t know how many charity organizations there are here. The article in The Dispatch (“Benevolence reach shorter this holiday,” Dec. 24) stated many of them would not be serving meals on Christmas Day for the poor and homeless, except for the First Presbyterian Church homeless shelter, at 5:30 p.m.
I understand that volunteers want to be home with their families, but there must be folks like me who would be happy to work that day helping out. If only I had known a few days earlier! We could work a few days at Christmas, even though we can’t do it all the time.
Please publish the phone numbers of those places that should be serving meals to the folks who need them, especially on the one day of the year that we remember the birth of Christ.
