Letter: Include relatives in obituaries
To the editor:
I would like to thank Andrea Harris for her letter concerning relatives’ names in the obituaries. Or rather, our being in the paper without a charge.
Having moved away and living in New York for many years, I have lost track of the names of many people. However, I would always read the names of their parents, siblings or children and know exactly who they are.
Without the names of relatives, many times I did not know who family members, cousins or younger people were without some names of relatives. It was only when people who did know would call and let me know, and often it is then too late to pay proper respect to the family.
The obituary has become a one-sided situation due to the fact that many people cannot afford this charge.
