Dr. Harold N. Frazier Jr.
HENDERSON — Dr. Harold Nichols Frazier Jr., 57, of 331 Blairmont Drive, Boone, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Born in Vance County, he was the son of Harold Nichols Frazier Sr. and Jane Renn Frazier of Henderson.
Dr. Frazier was the senior partner of Watauga Surgical Group in Boone and specialized in general and vascular surgery. He was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Boone.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at noon at First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Ronald Cava. Burial will follow in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
A celebration of life service will be held Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at 6 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Boone. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Martha Garrett Frazier; his daughter, Virginia Frazier Gest and husband Seth of Charlotte; his son, Dr. Harold N. Frazier III of Chapel Hill; two sisters, Melody F. Doster and husband Dan of Raleigh and Elisa Renn Frazier Freeze and husband Woodrow of Bullock; two nieces, Rebecca Freeze of Bullock and Lizzie Doster of Charlotte; and three nephews, Will Freeze of Bullock, Bill Doster of Wilson and Jim Doster of Raleigh.
The family will receive friends today, Sept. 5, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home of his parents, 143 Cedarwood Drive, Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Harold Frazier III, George Hoyle, Wilson Hoyle III, Jim Doster, Bill Doster, Will Freeze, Jeff Renn and Al Renn.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to World Medical Missions, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.

Anthony E. Gupton
HENDERSON — Anthony Eugene “Tony” Gupton, age 50, a resident of 229 W. Young Ave., died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Born on Dec. 7, 1963, in Vance County, he was the son of Linwood Eugene “Gene” Gupton and Betsy Pegram Gupton of Henderson. He was employed as a service technician at Time Warner Cable, where he had worked for 18 years.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Sept. 7, at 3 p.m. at Westwood Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Cleveland Harrison.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Lynna Jarbeck Gupton of the home; six children, Chase Gupton, Leah Gupton, Clint Faulkner and Jason Ott, all of Henderson, Brian Ott of Bear Lake, Pennsylvania, and Jennifer Ramsey of Jamestown, New York; two brothers, Stephen Gupton of Youngsville and Dale Neathery of La Grange; and 19 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday prior to the service from 1:30 until 3 p.m. at Westwood Pentecostal Holiness Church. At other times they will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westwood Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, c/o Janelle Jackson, 235 Yowland Road, Henderson, NC 27536.

Alfred W. Muir
BOYDTON, Va. — Alfred William Muir, 83, of Boydton, Virginia, passed away Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Muir was retired from IBM and was an elder in the Cape Fear Church in Lillington.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. Muir; one daughter, Jean McCall and her husband Bill of Boydton; two sons, Steven Muir and his wife Claudia of Coatsville, Pennsylvania, and Alfred Muir Jr. and his wife Wendi of Hyde Park, New York. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 222 Young St., Henderson, on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at 2 p.m.
Memorial considerations may be made to Hospice of Community Memorial Healthcenter or the National Parkinson Foundation Inc.

HENDERSON — Winston Blackwell Sr., 89, of 1784 Satterwhite Point Road, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Mt. Moriah AME Zion Church. Interment will follow at St. Paul AME Zion Church Cemetery.
Viewing is from noon to 6 p.m. today, Sept. 5, in the chapel of Davis-Royster Funeral Service and at the church one hour prior to the service.

DENVER, Colo. — Kalford B. Somerville Jr., 76, formerly of Warren County, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at Denver Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Denver, Colorado.

MACON — Deacon Felton Lee Thompson, 79, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Greater Lovely Hill Baptist Church in Macon by the Rev. William Faulcon Jr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at Burchette Chapel United Church of Christ in Manson by Elder Keith L. Davis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
