John M. Swecker Jr.
HENDERSON — John Marvin Swecker Jr., 77, of 1748 Parker Lane, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at his home.
Born in Harrisonburg, Va., on Aug. 5, 1936, he was the son of the late John Marvin Swecker Sr. and Mildred Lowe Swecker.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from Clayton Industries, where he was the general manager and served as a representative to the Virginia Manufactured Housing Association. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Henderson and chairman of the Clayton Homes Relay For Life Team for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at First Baptist Church by Dr. Marion D. Lark. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Mr. Swecker is survived by his wife, Katie Marshall Swecker of the home; three daughters, Stacey Swecker of the home, Ann Brady Wilson of Victor, Idaho, and Lyn Swecker of Charleston, S.C.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John “Jay” Marvin Swecker III.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Friday in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church. At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Johnson, Bobby Clark, David Booth, Wallace Conner, Russell Perryman, Ronnie Robertson, Don Fox, Johnny Calvert and Ken Cobb.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 75, Henderson, NC 27536, or Relay For Life, PO Box 914, Henderson, NC 27536.

Bonnie C. Champion Jr.
HENDERSON — Bonnie Carl “B.C.” Champion Jr., 70, of 2694 Vicksboro Road, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at his home.
Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Bonnie Carl Champion Sr. and Ina Mae George Champion.
Mr. Champion was the retired owner and operator of Depend-O Insulation Company. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Elmwood Cemetery by Pastor Tucker Bailey and Rev. Dallas George.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Sandra Ayscue Champion; three sons, Danny C. Champion of Henderson, Clay E. Champion and wife Mary of Roxboro and Billy B. Champion of Henderson; a daughter-in-law, Shree Champion of Henderson; three grandchildren, Alyssa Champion, Miranda Champion and Jaxan Champion; and two step-grandchildren, Jameson Long and Jeremy Long.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home. At all other times they will be at the home, 2694 Vicksboro Road.
