Katherine G. Clopton

HENDERSON — Katherine Glenn Clopton, 86, formerly of Davis Street, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at a local nursing home.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Glenn and Ellie Davis Glenn.

She was the widow of Herbert Harold Clopton.

Mrs. Clopton was a former telephone operator at Carolina Telephone Company. She was a member of City Road United Methodist Church and the Pridgen-Peace Sunday School Class.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at City Road United Methodist Church by Rev. Heather Harding and Rev. Frank Sossamon. A private burial will be held in Elmwood Cemetery.

Surviving are a son, H. Ray Clopton and wife Jeanene of Henderson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Parlor of City Road United Methodist Church. All other times, they will be at the home of Ray and Jeanene Clopton, 114 Westlake Drive.

NEW YORK — Mary Elizabeth Fleming, 85, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at her home in the Bronx.

She is survived by a son, Rev. Roy Fleming of Henderson; a daughter, Tina Moore of Athens, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at United Christian Church in the Bronx.

Floice H. Rushton

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — Floice H. “Judy” Rushton, 94, passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013.

She was born on Jan. 18, 1919, in Cookeville, Tenn.

Mrs. Rushton had an associate’s degree in business. She was a business auditor and then owner of Rushton Cadillac and GMC Dealership.

She loved golf, painting and travel.

Mrs. Rushton was a member of Douglasville First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis Parker Rushton, and her parents, John Ruben and Bertie Lane Hardy.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret H. Carpenter of Powder Springs, Ga.; nephews, Bob Carpenter and wife Cecile of Douglasville, Ga., James Corn and wife Rita of Atlanta, Ga., Carl Hardy and wife Carol of Raleigh, Tommy Fullerton of Kannapolis and Alan Hardy of Salisbury; and niece, Tina Reed and husband John of Powder Springs, Ga.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Rushton’s memory to Douglasville First United Methodist Church, 4167 Prestley Mill Road, Douglasville, GA 30134.
