Robert E. Kearney

OVIEDO, Fla. — Robert “Bob” Evans Kearney, 70, formerly of Henderson, went to be with the Lord at his home on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Maxine Royster Kearney; a daughter, Kristen Kearney Sizemore (Steve), of Henderson; two sons, Chris Roberson (Holly), of Oviedo Fla., and Brian Roberson (Susanne), of Fulda, Germany; a sister, Marilyn Kearney McKinney; five brothers, M. Ashton Kearney (Sonny), W. Thomas Kearney (Carol), a twin, William C. Kearney (Wanda); seven grandchildren, Adam and Kendall Sizemore, Seth and Shawn Roberson, Michelle and Jamie Roberson, Jasmin Lake; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.

Family members that were special to Bob include Sarah and Dale Poythress, Rachel and Braxton Poythress, and Jean and Bill West.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Theola and Lonnie Kearney; a son, David Roberson, of Henderson; and a brother-in-law, Jim McKinney.

Bob was a 1970 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Pharmaceutical School. He was licensed as a pharmacist in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and retired Walgreens pharmacist.

Bob loved music, fishing, computers and being home with his family. He enjoyed studying his Bible and reminiscing about his trip to the Holy Land, where he was baptized again in the Jordan River.

Family and friends may gather at daughter Kristen and Steve Sizemore’s home, at 85 Country Lake Drive, Henderson, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Henderson. Family and friends will gather after the service in the fellowship hall.

Jan-Michael V. Lassiter

HENDERSON — Jan-Michael Vincent-Gray Lassiter, 29, of 106 Gwynn Pond Lane, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013.

Born on Aug. 13, 1983, in Durham County, he was the son of Melville Gray Lassiter and Judy Stanton Lassiter of Henderson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Blessed Hope Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Donnie Perkinson. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

In addition to his parents, he is leaving behind the following family: Cathy Gray Lassiter Burch and her son, Jonathan Isaac Burch, of Beaufort; Lisa Michelle Lassiter Long and husband, Richard, of Henderson; and Bryant Thomas Long, his wife Ashley and their daughter, Alisa Michelle Long, of Henderson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home at 106 Gwynn Pond Lane.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Tommy Blanks, Gerald Perkinson, Preston Dunn, Leonard Lee, Greene Faulkner and Jason Wiard.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Vance County Humane Society, PO Box 1552, Henderson, NC 27536.

HENDERSON — Angela Christine Jones Thompson, 34, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013.
