Linda B. Woodard
Linda Burgess Woodard, 67, of 1332 Walter Bowen Road, Henderson, in the Epsom community, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late William Clifford Burgess and Hilda Jane Hayes Burgess.
Mrs. Woodard was owner and operator of Bill’s Flowers and Gifts. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where she played the piano for 40 years, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and served on numerous church committees. She also taught piano for over 30 years.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at 3 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Aaron Tripp and the Rev. Tammy Ayscue. A private burial will be held in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Johnnie Lee Woodard; two daughters, Sonia Denise Woodard of the home and Lisa W. Hawkins and husband, Mike, of Dover, Del.; a son, Michael Puckett and wife, Amanda, of Henderson; a brother, Walter Samuel Burgess and wife, Charlotte, of Epsom; a sister-in-law, Shirley Woodard of Johnson City, Tenn.; and her best friend, Agnes Woodlief and husband, R.O., of Epsom.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Burgess.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall at New Bethel Baptist Church. All other times, they will be at the home, 1332 Walter Bowen Road, Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Pete Overton, Mike Woodlief, James Ayscue, Talmadge Goodson, Randy Hayes, Wayne Renn, Jonathan Renn and Jamie Gupton.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Danny Champion, Sandy Matthews, Norman Dickerson, Roger Finch, Tex Finch, Anne Bliss, Clora Wilkerson and Ruth Stith.

Kenneth L. Gupton
OXFORD — Kenneth Linwood Gupton, 69, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013, at Hock Family Pavilion.
He was born in Vance County to Violet Gupton White and the late Perry Linwood Gupton.
He was predeceased by his son, Kevin Gupton.
Mr. Gupton was a 26-year Navy veteran.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, Edwin White, he is survived by his wife, Chung Kim Gupton and her daughter, Tammy; daughters Kathy Hobby and Marianne (Randy) Knapp; grandchildren Victoria Clopton and Jake Hobby; sister, Patricia Gupton (Bill) Coghill; and stepchildren Donald Roberson, Charlotte Pierce and Gary Roberson.
A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Liberty Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Mark Hall officiating.

James Green Jr.
WARRENTON — James Green Jr., 69, of 199 Ferguson Drive, died Monday, July 29, 2013.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at New Bethel Baptist Church in Macon with Dr. James T. Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will be on view from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel.
