Elizabeth T. Hill

OXFORD — Elizabeth Tarry Hill, 96, widow of Chesley Sam Hill, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at her residence in Granville House.

Born in Mecklenburg County, Va., she was the youngest daughter of George and Mary Graham Tarry. She resided in Shreveport, La., from 1958 to 2010.

A memorial service for family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Vance County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1552, Henderson, NC 27536.

Helen H. Nicholson

HENDERSON — Helen Paige Harrison Nicholson passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Sue Nicholson, and loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, F.C. “Nick” Nicholson.

Helen loved her church, First Baptist Church of Henderson, of which she was a loyal member for 53 years. She was a member of the JOY/Currin class, the Sue Kelly Women’s Circle, and studied the Bible avidly, attending numerous Bible study classes throughout the years.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Ronald S. Cava. Visitation will immediately follow in the church parlor.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Henderson, NC, P.O. Box 75, Henderson, NC 27536.

James T. Williams Jr.

HENDERSON — James T. Williams Jr., 43, of 113 Ramblewood Lane, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at his residence.

He was the son of James T. Williams Sr. and Mable Peace Williams. He was a correctional officer at Polk Youth Center, where he had attained the rank of sergeant.

He is survived by his parents and a wife, Tamy Boyd Williams; a son, Malik Treyvon Williams of the home; and two sisters, Sandra W. Mitchell and Tammy W. Black, both of Oxford.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Joe Shaw. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church cemetery in Granville County.

The body will be on view from noon to 7 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the home of Sandra Mitchell, 4068 Grant Drive in Oxford.
