Gale W. Collier

NORLINA — Sylvia Gale Walker Collier, 66, of 481 Shepard Road, Norlina, (in the Vicksboro Community) died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Warren Percy Walker and Sallie Jo Harris Walker. She was the widow of Archie Dean Collier.

Collier was a homemaker.

A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.

Surviving are four daughters, Fay C. Boyette of Kenly, Kay C. Dickerson of Oxford, Angela Dawn W. Strickland of Princeton, and Donya S. Page of New Jersey; two sons, Robbie Dean Collier of Norlina and Richard W. Shields of Burlington; a brother, Don W. Walker of Sylva; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends today, from 7-8:30 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home of Kay and Rodney Dickerson, 5404 Hicksboro Road, Oxford.

Arrangements are by Flowers Funeral Home.

HENDERSON — Kenya Odessa Hodges, 34, a resident of Vance County, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in Henderson.

Arrangements will be announced by Davis-Royster Funeral Service.

HENDERSON — Jerome Kearney, 33. of 431 Cross Creek Road, Henderson, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in Henderson.

WARREN COUNTY — Henry Bradford King, 75, of New Haven, Conn. (formerly of Warren County), died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Advance Nursing Rehabilitation Center in New Haven, Conn.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Snow Hill Baptist Church in Warrenton. The Rev. A.F. Horton, pastor, will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include: his daughters, Rhonda Goode and Maggie Harris, both of Snow Hill, Kimberly King of Henderson, Sabrina Scruggs of New Haven, Conn., and Diedra Scruggs of Hamden, Conn.; sons, Henry Jr., Maurice and Travis, all of North Carolina, Larry Perry of Germany, and Dana and Tyrese Scruggs of New Haven, Conn.; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 12 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Georgianna Williams of Conway, S.C., Beulah of Warrenton, Jessie Clark of West Haven, Shirley Bullock of Richmond, Va., Vivian Baker of Norcross, Ga., Candis Green of New Haven, Conn.; and a brother, Vincent Patton of Littleton.

The body will be on view today, from noon-7 p.m., at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.

Professional services have been entrusted to Boyd’s Funeral Services in Warrenton.

Mamie H. Mullins

RALEIGH — Mamie Herring Mullins, 89, of Raleigh, died on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013.

A native of Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Roscoe and Annie Bryan Herring. She was a member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church where she was a member of the Townsend Class. She was a former school teacher and a homemaker.

Graveside memorial services will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery by Dr. David Hailey.

Surviving are her sons, Robert Thomas Mullins of Garner and Charlie Herring Mullins of Raleigh; a daughter, Barbara Mullins Woodlief of Raleigh; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will take place Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2013. from 2-4 p.m., in the parlor at Hayes Barton Baptist Church for her church family and from 6-8 p.m. on the same day at the home, 2301 Beechridge Road, Raleigh.

Mary J. Williams

RALEIGH — Mary R. Johnson Williams, 73, a resident of 4812 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

She was the daughter of the late Sydney Johnson and Mattie Strong Johnson.

Mary was a Granville County native and was a graduate of the Joe Toler High School.

Survivors include one daughter; Karen Williams of Raleigh, three sons; Jeffrey Johnson of Raleigh, Michael Williams of Midlothian, Va., and Eric S. Williams of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; one sister; Shirley Thorpe of Oxford; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at 2 p.m., in the Betts & Son Funeral Home Chapel, with a eulogy by the Rev.. Leroy S. Anderson. Interment will follow in the New Jonathan Baptist Church Cemetery.

A viewing will take place today, from 11 a.m..7 pm., at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday and other times at the home of Robert and Shirley Thorpe at 6612 Bob Daniels Road, Oxford.

Services have been entrusted to Betts & Son Funeral Home in Oxford.
