Harold B. Fisher
HENDERSON — Harold Bennett Fisher, 85, Henderson, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.
Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Emmitt Haywood Fisher and Lizzie Breedlove Fisher.
Mr. Fisher was the former owner and operator of Fisher’s Body Shop and was a retired security guard at Harriet & Henderson Yarns Inc. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He attended City Road United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 21, 2013, at 3 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Peggy Nowell Fisher; two daughters, Edith F. Nunnery and husband, Glenn, of Henderson, and Jo Ellen Fisher of Richmond, Va.; a son, Michael Bennett Fisher and wife, Paula, of Henderson, two grandchildren, Matthew Bennett Fisher and wife, Nicole, and Allen Michael Fisher; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Fisher; and a sister, Eleanor F. Williamson of Henderson. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca F. Parrott and Esther F. Ryan; and three brothers, Emmitt M. Fisher, James H. “Sonny” Fisher and Gary J. Fisher.
The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2-3 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home of Michael and Paula Fisher, 715 Aycock Road, Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be members of the Vance County Rescue Squad.

HENDERSON — Shirley “Jean” Bullock died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.
She was born April 22, 1958, to Samuel Lee Sr. and Mary Bullock in Manson.
At an early age, she joined Manson Baptist Church, where was a member until her health declined.
She was educated in the Warren County Public School System.
Shirley was employed with Harriett & Henderson Yarns and Glen Raven Mills for many years.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 21, 2013, at 2 p.m., from the Manson Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Elton Buffaloe, pastor of Soul City Baptist Church will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include three children, Cedric Bullock and Derrick Bullock, both of Henderson, and Donald Bullock of the home; eight grandchildren; her parents, Samuel Lee Sr. and Mary Bullock of Manson; her paternal grandmother; four brothers, Samuel Lee Jr. of Middleburg, John Bullock of Denver, Colo., Linwood Bullock of Warrenton, and Daniel Bullock of Holly Springs; eight sisters: Betty Allen of Middleburg, Callie Bullock of Soul City, Bertha Bullock of Soul City, Mary Harris of Drewry, and Doris Isreal, Nellie Henderson Sarah Hardy and Christine Alston, all of Manson.
Bullock may be viewed today, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., in the R.H. Greene Funeral Home Chapel; and at the church one hour prior to the service.

David W. Evans
CREEDMOOR — David Wayne Evans, 50, a resident of Wake County, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at this home.
A native of Durham County, he was the son of Shirley Keith Evans and the late John Evans. He was a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church and was employed with Hytech County in Raleigh.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 21, 2013, at 2 p.m., in the Eakes Funeral Chapel, 834 Main St., Creedmoor, with the Chaplain Ralph Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 3024 Olive Grove Church Road, Creedmoor.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Evans of the home; sons, Hunter and Dustin of the home; daughter Heather of the home; a grandson; a brother, Bobby Evans; and a sister, Tonya Pearce.
Flowers will be accepted.
Visitation will be held today, from 7-8:30 p.m., at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor.

William G. Goff
NORLINA — William Gerald Goff, 82, a resident of 181 Goff Road, Norlina, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at his home.
Born on Dec. 5, 1930, in Monmouth County, N.J., he was the son of the late John Goff and Jennie Crammer Goff.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Woolley Goff of the home; one daughter, Jennifer Goff Thompson of Norlina; two sisters, Ruth G. Pullen of Mt. Holly, N.J., Dorothy G. Reynolds of New Egypt, N.J., and Anne G. Kirsh of Monmouth County, N.J.; one brother, Harvey Goff of Monroeville, Ala.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas Goff and Brian Goff.
A private service will be held by the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Avenue, Suite 202, Wilmette, Illinois 60091-1064.

Annie C. Owens
HENDERSON — Annie Currin Owens, 90, a former resident of 537 S. Cooper Drive, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Universal Health Care in Oxford.
Born in Vance County on May 16, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Tom Currin and Mattie Roberson Currin, and was the widow of Lonnie Franklin Owens. She was a retired seamstress at Southern Quilters and was a member of South Henderson Church of God, and was the last member of the Senior Ladies Adult Class.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 22, 2012, at 2 p.m., at South Henderson Church of God by the Rev. Gary Harper and the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Owens of Henderson; two sons, Vincent Owens of Henderson and Robert Owens of Wake Forest; one brother, Tommy Currin of Cobourg, Ontario, Canada; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mildred Owens; one son, Daylon Owens; seven brothers; and one sister.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 21, 2013, from 7-8:30 p.m., at J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Tammy Williams, 165 Country Acers Road, off Old County Home Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Jeremy Owens, Robin Owens, Daniel Owens, T. J. Williams, Marty Owens and Steve Owens.

GREENVILLE — Leon Taylor, 53, a Vance County native, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Vidant Hospital in Greenville.
He was born Aug. 19, 1959, in Vance County, to the late Hartford Burwell and Sallie Elizabeth Taylor Burwell.
He attended Vance County Public Schools, and worked in construction and for Faulkner Building Supply. At an early age, he attended Spring Street Missionary Baptist Church until he moved to Boston, Mass., and later, Waynesboro, Va.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 21, 2013, at 2:30 p.m., in the chapel of Davis-Royster Funeral Service with the Rev. Cora V. Boyd, officiating. Interment will follow in Blacknall Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters: Darchica Bullock and Shaara Taylor, both of Henderson; one son, Ahmad Taylor of Raleigh; a sister, Angela Burwell of Henderson, a brother, Quentin Burwell of Butner; and seven grandchildren.
A viewing will take place at the funeral home today, from noon-5:30 p.m.
