James H. Vann
CLINTON — Mr. James Harvey Vann, 93, of 707 Vann Road, Clinton, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2013, at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Newton Grove with the Rev. Carol Dean and Rev. Dr. Dennis Sheppard officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Vann, born in Sampson County, was the son of the late Harvey Vann and Addie Belle Williamson Vann and was the widower of Iris Grey Westbrook Vann. He was a retired manager of Wickes Lumber Company, a farmer, a World War II Army veteran, and a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.
Mr. Vann is survived by his seven children, James Wayne Vann and wife, Marian Ann, of Wallace, Priscilla Faucette of Concord, Dana Smith and husband, Jim, of Raleigh, Phyllis Butler and husband, Dr. Jerry Butler, of Boone, Michael Dale Vann and wife, Donna, of Henderson, Gary Nicholas Vann and wife, Suzanne, of Clinton, Timothy “Timmy” Greyson Vann and wife, Denise, of Clayton; 12 grandchildren, Michelle Vann, Bradley Vann, Brandy Faucette Storms, Nicole Hausmann, Heather Vann Richey, Cameron Vann, Brooke Butler, Rhett Butler, Nick Vann, Lauren Vann, Jonathan Vann and Mallory Vann; and nine great-grandchildren, Jordan Vann, Kobe Vann, Jackson Vann, Alyna Vann, Alex Hausmann, Emery Hausmann, Kennedy Hausmann, Christian Hausmann and Reese Hausmann.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton and other times at the home of Gary and Suzanne Vann, 561 Vann Road, Clinton.

Frank Gibbs Jr.
HENDERSON — Frank Gibbs Jr., 59, died Thursday. April 11, 2013, at Granville Medical Center of Oxford, following an extended illness.
Born on July 30, 1953, in Quincy Point, R.I., he was the son of Carlester Lawson Gibbs and the late Frank Gibbs Sr.
At an early age, he joined the Davis Chapel Baptist Church.
He was married to the late Carolyn Kingsberry Gibbs.
He had been a resident of Universal Healthcare of Oxford for the past seven years.
Survivors include his mother, Carlester L. Gibbs of Henderson; two sons, Prophet Frank Kingsberry and Tyie Gibbs, both of Henderson; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Diane Edwards of Warrenton, Judy Gibbs Jenkins-May of Fort Washington, Md., and Mary Jones, of Henderson; and four brothers, George Lawson, William Gibbs and Elder James Gibbs, all of Henderson, and Jessie Gibbs of Laurel, Md.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at 3 p.m., at Davis Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Turrentine officiating. Interment will be in the Blacknall Cemetery. The body will be on view at the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the home of Carlester Gibbs, 1319 Walter St., Henderson, and viewing will take place Monday, from 2-8 p.m., at E.C. Terry’s Funeral Chapel. Floral bearers will be nieces. Pallbearers will be nephews.

HENDERSON — Herbert Charles Rogers, 60, a resident of Green-Bullock Assisted Living Center in Henderson, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013.
