Arlene H. White

HENDERSON — Arlene Hart White, 89, of 3213 Walters Road in Creedmoor and formerly of Henderson, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at her home.

Born in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late J. Ernest Hart and Clara Newton Hart. She was the widow of Lewis C. White.

Mrs. White was a retired employee of Com-fo Hosiery Mill. She was a member of West End Baptist Church, the Open Door Sunday school class, the West Enders Club, the Lou Yates Circle and the church choir.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 26, 2013, at 2 p.m., at West End Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Marc Tilley. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving are a sister, Rowena H. Frazier of Creedmoor; two nieces, Carol Jo Harris, and husband, William, and Melissa Harris; three nephews, Carl Harris, and wife Cindy, Penine Hart, and Peter Hart, and wife Regina; and six great-neices and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Thomas Hart.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at West End Baptist Church. At all other times, they will be at the home.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Clyde Wilson, Jerry A. Ayscue, Charles Garrett, Terry Davis, W.A. Currin, Jimmie Ayscue, Bruce Stainback and Bob Flowers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church, 619 Dabney Drive, Henderson, NC 27536.

Linda G. Slaughter

OXFORD — Linda Gray Slaughter, 67, of 100 Garden Park, Apartment 212, Oxford, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at her home.

Born in Granville County, she was the daughter of Carrie Currin Slaughter of Oxford and the late Lester Marion Slaughter.

Miss Slaughter was a member of Delrayno Baptist Church and the Jeff Gregg Sunday School Class. She was also a volunteer with the Granville Health Systems for many years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Delrayno Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. D.L. Page and the Rev. Johnny Richards.

Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her sister, Brenda S. Blackwell of Asheboro; and two brothers, Sherby G. Slaughter and wife Janet of Henderson and Harold T. Slaughter and wife Kay of Oxford.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Slaughter.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m., at Delrayno Baptist Church. At all other times, they will be at the home of Carrie Slaughter, 712 Williamsboro Street, Oxford.

Serving as active pallbearers will be David Holden, Thomas Slaughter, Dean Mitchell, H.T. Slaughter, Jeff Gregg, L.H. Greenway, Bobby Talley and Alvin Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Jeff Gregg Sunday School Class.

BUTNER — Peggy McRae Hobby, 78, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Butner First Baptist Church by Rev. Lenny Rogers and Dr. Mark Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4 prior to the service in the Family Life Center at the church.

WARRENTON — John A. Hudgins Jr., 65, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, in Durham.

A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, July 26, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Warrenton.

Family and friends will meet Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home.
