Preston A. Moody Sr.

HENDERSON — Preston Alan Moody Sr., 68, of 2510 NE 34th Court, Lighthouse Point, Fla., died Thursday, July 18, 2013, in Del Ray, Fla.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of Christine Robinson Moody of Henderson and the late Edward Marshall Moody.

Mr. Moody was a retired owner of Sunbelt Marketing Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church and the Lighthouse Point Saltwater Sportsman’s Association.

A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at

11 a.m., at Sunset Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Cathy Hoyle.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Rowland Moody; a son, Preston A. Moody II and wife Shelly of Boca Raton, Fla.; and two sisters, Sandra M. Owen and husband Ray of Henderson and Christy M. Tyre of Raleigh.

The family will receive friends at the home of Christine Moody, 5225 Satterwhite Point Road, Henderson.

Denise F. Stevenson

HENDERSON — Denise Faulkner Stevenson, age 57, a resident of 394 Carey Chapel Road, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

Born on Feb. 7, 1956, in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Allison Russell Faulkner and Agnes Ruth Perry Faulkner. Denise was formerly employed in the Vance County Schools system, and was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Burgess. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, Cameron Stevenson and wife, Katherine, and Russell Stevenson and wife, Ruthanne, of Henderson; one daughter, Andrea S. Harless and husband, Todd, of Martinsburg, W. Va.; one sister, Phyllis F. Burnette and husband, William, of Henderson; and one brother, Allison Keith Faulkner and wife, Evangelina, of Henderson; 10 grandchildren, Wes Collier, Rhea Ellen Harless, Russ Stevenson, Christin Collier, Blaine Stevenson, Eli Harless, Christopher Stevenson, August Stevenson, Rose Harless and Magnolia Harless.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Maria Elizabeth Faulkner.

The family will receive friends Monday immediately following the service in the fellowship hall at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church. At other times they will be at the home of Russell and Ruthanne Stevenson at 356 Carey Chapel Road.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Bill Stevenson, Linwood Faulkner, Scott Burnette, Matt Todd, Billy Edwards and Willie Edwards, Jr.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Leslie Carswell Memorial Garden, c/o the Oncology Department, Maria Parham Medical Center, 566 Ruin Creek Road, Henderson, NC 27536.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 21, 2013, at 3 p.m. at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m., at South Henderson Pentecostal Church.
