Roxanne C. Forsythe

HENDERSON — Roxanne Carmichael Forsythe, 51, of 2566 Gillburg Road, Henderson, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at her residence.

A native of Alamance County, Roxanne graduated from N.C. Wesleyan College. She was a  former employee at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Henderson.

Survivors include: her husband, David Allen Forsythe of the home; son, James Matthew Forsythe and fiancée, Hannah Woriax, of the home; her stepson, Chris Forsythe and wife, Pam, of Youngsville; her mother, Mildred Kernodle Carmichael of Mebane; two sisters, Sherby Wood and husband, Mike, and Theresa Kontoulas and husband, Greg; her brother, Myron Keith Carmichael and wife, Deborah; and two grandchildren, Kelsey Forsythe and Cody Cash. She was preceded in death by her father, James Elder Carmichael.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 11 a.m., at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane by the Rev. Bruce Beck.

The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane, 1308 S. Third St., Mebane, Monday night, April 29, 2013, from 6-8 p.m., and at other times at the residence of Diana Perkins, 141 Lake Latham Road, Mebane.

George E. Wells

RALEIGH — George Edgar Wells, 77, passed away peacefully Friday, April 26, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

George was born in Durham to B.C. and Alma Wells. The family later moved to Henderson where he graduated from Henderson High School. He received a degree in civil engineering from N.C. State University and began his career with the N.C. Department of Transportation, earning his registration as a professional engineer and rising to the level of state highway administrator. He retired from the Department of Transportation with 32 years of public service and was honored by Gov. Martin with The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award. After retirement, George worked as a consulting engineer with Kimley-Horn in Land Development Service.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Jo Ann Eaves Wells; daughter and husband, Vicki and Don Webb; son and wife, Terry and Judy Wells; grandsons, Joseph and Jared Wells; precious great-granddaughter, Alyssa Wells; brother, Dewey Wells; and sister and husband, Karen and Will Manley. Also surviving are Jo Ann’s brother and wife, Carlton and Betsy Eaves; Jo Ann’s sister, Erma Wynne, and many cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom he dearly loved. George was preceded in passing by his parents, B.C. and Alma; his brother’s wife, Ann; and his sister’s son, Hunter.

George enjoyed traveling with family and friends and spent most of his leisure time hunting and fishing and simply being outdoors enjoying God’s creation.

A memorial service in his honor will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 3 p.m., at New Hope Baptist Church, 4301 Louisburg Road, Raleigh.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the “New Hope Baptist Church Columbarium Fund.”

John F. Boyle

LITTLETON — John Francis Boyle, 74, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at his home.

He was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Burlington, Wis., to the late Francis Gerald Boyle and Theresa Tober Boyle.

He was employed as a science teacher with the public school system of Ossining, N.Y., for many years until he retired.
After retirement, he and his wife, Joan, relocated to the Lake Gaston area in Warren County and were involved in numerous civic and social organizations.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Mary M. Carey and Kathleen O’Reilly; five sons: Thomas, Bill, John, Paul and Timothy; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Shirley H. Chuckwueke

HENDERSON — Shirley Harrison Chuckwueke, 51, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.

The daughter of Sarah H. Harrison and the late Robert J. Harrison, she was born Sept. 25, 1961, in Philadelphia, Pa.
She joined White’s Grove Christian Church at an early age.
Chuckwueke was educated in the Warren County Public School System, graduating from Norlina High School in 1981.
She was a long-time employee with Harris Teeter Foods, and later with Kerr Drug Store in Raleigh. In 2009, she decided to return to Norlina to care for her mother.

A memorial service will be held today at Whites Grove Christian Church in Norlina. The Rev. John R. Pugh, pastor, will officiate.

Survivors include: her mother, Sarah H. Harrison of Warrenton; her brother, Robert L. Harrison of Washington, D.C.; and her sister, Nancy H. Nelson.

Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.


Thelma Crews

DURHAM — Thelma Crews, 65, of 140 Old Poplar Creek Road, Henderson, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Duke Medical Center in Durham.

The family is receiving friends at the residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Davis-Royster Funeral Service.


Larry E. Hardee

HENDERSON — Larry Edward Hardee, 54, a resident of 129 Burwell Ave., Henderson, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at his home.

Born in Okaloosa County, Fla., he was the son of the late Wilbur Hardee and Barbara Baker Hardee. He was a former supervisor at Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, and a member of Freedom Life Church of God.

A memorial service will be held today, at 4 p.m., at Freedom Life Church of God by the Rev. Jeff Prewer.

He is survived by his wife, Gale Edwards Hardee of the home; one son, Larry Edward Hardee II of Stuart, Va.; one daughter, Amanda H. Robertson of Henderson; one brother, Steve Hardee of Henderson; and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Hardee; and two brothers, David Hardee and William Hardee.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Freedom Life Church of God and at the home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Larry Hardee Funeral Fund, c/o J.M. White Funeral Home, 60 Zeb Robinson Road, Henderson, N.C. 27536.
