Carvie M. Boyd
HENDERSON — Carvie Milton Boyd, 64, of 215 Frank Sneed Road, Henderson, died Jan. 23, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.
Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late William and Alma Edward Boyd. He joined Mount Olive Baptist Church at an early age, and later in life he joined Compassionate Tabernacle of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Raleigh where he served as an usher and a member of the trustee board.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at 1:30 p.m., at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Harry Williams.
Survivors include one daughter, Amelia “Nikki” Rivers of Raleigh; one son, Carvie “Spanky” Boyd of the home; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Alma Henry and Erma B. Williams, both of Henderson, and Clara Williams of High Point; and one brother, Raymond Boyd of Henderson.
The family is receiving friends at 323 Clark St., Henderson. The body will be on view at the funeral home today, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and at the church one hour before the service. Online condolences maybe expressed at Davis-Royster.com.

HENDERSON — Due to inclement weather, visitation for Jane Hunt Clayton, scheduled for Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, was cancelled.
The family will receive friends today, from 1-2 p.m., at Gospel Independent Baptist church, followed by the service at 2 p.m.

Ronald N. Edwards
HENDERSON — Ronald Newcomb Edwards, 57, a resident of 1085 Greystone Road, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at his home.
Born on Aug. 13, 1955, in Vance County, he was the son of Mildred Smith Edwards of Henderson and the late George Newcomb Edwards. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed as an electrician.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Sunset Gardens by the Rev. Jeff Prewer.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Beverly Saunders of Richmond, Va., and Kristy Edwards of Orlando, Fla.; one son, Bobby Saunders of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Wendy E. Grissom of Kittrell; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, prior to the service, from 1:30-2 p.m., at Sunset Gardens. At other times they will be at the home of Donnie and Wendy Grissom at 106 Moss Stock Farm Road, Kittrell.

Mary D. Jones
WARRENTON — Mary Louis Dickerson Jones, 68, of 269 Cool Springs Road, Warrenton, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, in Oxford.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Greenwood Baptist Church in Warrenton. The Rev. Jordan Wilkins will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include: one daughter, Creola Jones Henderson of Norlina; three grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine Stevenson and Juanita Stevenson, both of Norlina; and two brothers, Thomas Kane Stevenson of Dine and Henry Lee Stevenson of Hyattsville, Md.
The body will be on view today, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.

WILMINGTON — Alexander Macklin, 69, of 1304 King St., Wilmington, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at New Hanover Regional Hospital in Wilmington.
He was born March 3, 1943, in Warren County, to the late Joseph Macklin Sr. and the late Mable Kearney Macklin.
At an early age, be attended the Largo Community School and later joined Jones Chapel Baptist Church.
He was educated in the Warren County School System and graduated from John R. Hawkins High School in 1963. He then moved to New York where he worked for 40 years in construction. After retirement, he then moved to Wilmington.
Funeral services will be held today, at 1 p.m., at Jones Chapel Baptist Church in Warrenton, with Pastor Anthony Alston officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include: his wife, Jennett Allen Macklin; two daughters, Wanda Macklin and Nadine Macklin; two grandchildren; and four sisters: Maggie Manne of New York, N.Y., and Solista Grant, Clara Macklin and Virginia Macklin, all of Bronx, N.Y.
A viewing took place Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, from noon-6 p.m., at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Melvin D. Roberson
HENDERSON — Melvin Dorsey Roberson, 84, a resident of 3060 Kelly Road, Henderson, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.
Born on Jan. 5, 1929, in Vance County, he was the son of the late Hunter J. Roberson and Julie Ross Roberson. He was a retired automobile mechanic, tobacco farmer, and a member of Harris Chapel United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Harris Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Alan P. Felton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Harp Roberson of the home; three daughters, Donna R. Edwards of Kittrell, Janice R. Cummings of Henderson and Roxie R. Fox of Littleton; a son, Dennis K. Roberson of Henderson; two sisters, Gladys R. Burkett of Independence, Mo., and Barbara R. Cummings of Strasburg, Va.; a brother, Howard Roberson of Fountain; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Monday, from 12:30-2 p.m., at the church. At other times they will be at the home, 3060 Kelly Road, Henderson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Damian Edwards, Corey Edwards, Chris Brooks, James Boyd, Chance LeBron and Brian Cummings.

Lucas M. Wishon
CREEDMOOR — Lucas Michael Wishon, 22, of Creedmoor, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at his home. Born in Durham County, he was the son of Jeffrey and Lisa Wishon.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford. Burial will follow in Community Memorial Gardens in Stem.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his paternal grandparents; maternal grandparents; and a sister, Shannon Persinger of Creedmoor.
The family will receive friends today, from 7-9 p.m., at the funeral home.
