Hal L. Paschall Sr.

NORLINA — Hal Langford Paschall Sr., 84, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Paschall was a Warren County native born to the late Alton William and Elizabeth Terrell Paschall.

He was also preceded in death by his infant brother, Alton Paschall Jr.

Hal was a longtime member of Zion United Methodist Church, was a U.S. Army veteran, was a retired dairy farmer, was a retired member of the Norlina Volunteer Fire Department and was a former board member for the Warren County Farm Bureau.

Rev. Bob Rose and Teresa Wimbrow will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Pleasants Paschall; his children, Hal Langford Paschall Jr. and wife Lynn, David Terrell Paschall and wife Renae, and Donald Watson Paschall; his sister, Nancy Jo Paschall Ledford and husband Ray; his grandchildren, Jeremy Paschall, Cindy Paschall Gardner and husband Brian, Elizabeth Paschall and Rebecca Paschall; and his great-grandchild, Kenan Tate Gardner.

Pallbearers will be Tom Traylor, Jim McAuslan, Bobby Martin, Sam Meador, Mike Frazier and Gene Hundley. Honorary pallbearers will be James White, Gerald Paschall, Frank Boyd and William Leonard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 143 Zion Church Road, Norlina, NC 27563.

The family will receive friends at Blaylock Funeral Home today, Dec. 3, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Diana H. Young

HENDERSON — Diana Huffman Young, age 66, a resident of 2727 U.S. 158 Business, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013.

Born in Long Beach, Calif., on Jan. 23, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Huffman and Dorothy McCarthy Huffman.

She was the manager of the Garden Walk Apartments.

She is survived by one son, Richard Young and wife of Oxford; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of her son, Richard Young, 108 Glendale Road, Oxford, NC 27565.

In lieu flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Norvell Benjamin Cheek, 69, formerly of Vance County, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013.

A funeral will be held at noon Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Dickies Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing is today, Dec. 3, from noon to 6 p.m. at Davis-Royster Funeral Service and at the church one hour prior to the service.

HENDERSON — Herbert Hinton Jr., 68, of Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Holy Temple Church by Dr. Roosevelt Alston. Interment will follow in Blacknall Cemetery.
