Virginia L. Wester
HENDERSON — Virginia Lucas “Gennie” Wester, 77, of 1211 Valley View Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.
Born in Lucama, she was the daughter of the late Earlie Brian and Mamie Susan Moore Lucas.
Mrs. Wester was a homemaker. She was a member of The Church of the Holy Innocents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. at The Church of the Holy Innocents, conducted by Father Donald Lowery. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving are her husband, William Hutson “Hut” Wester II; a daughter, Tonya N. Strickland of Sims; two sons, William H. “Bill” Wester III and wife Brittany of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Carl Britt Wester and wife Amy of Wake Forest; a sister, Nona L. Love of Wilson; six grandchildren, Casey Romero and husband Marvin of Wilson, Brittany Lynn Wester of Osceola, Wis., Datyn Wester of Houston, Lyberty Wester of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Alex Wester and Ben Wester, both of Wake Forest.
She was preceded in death by a son, Vincent Craig Nichols; two sisters, Lennie Lamm and Bertie Barbee; and two brothers, Wilbert Lucas and Herman Lucas.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Rich Harris, Billy Stanton, Felix McDaniel, Gene Edmundson, Jim Beck, Bill Mast, George Watkins and David Thomas.
The family will receive friends at the home, 1211 Valley View Drive, Henderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Church of the Holy Innocents, 210 S. Chestnut Street, Henderson, NC 27536.
The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Jacqueline Evans and Dorothy Holloway, caregivers.

OXFORD —William “Billy” Hite, 80, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Hitesburg Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Mike Riley and Rev. Bill Salmons.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Verlena Seward Taylor, 82, of Falls Run Nursing Center, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Oak Level United Church of Christ by Rev. Leon White. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Viewing is today from noon to 6 p.m. in the chapel of Davis-Royster Funeral Service and at the church one hour prior to the service.
