Ernest L. Walker

LA CROSSE, Va. — Ernest Lee Walker, known to his family and friends as “Butch,” was born Oct. 12, 1946, in La Crosse. He departed this life on Sunday, April 6, 2014.

Ernest was the son of Mrs. Thelma F. Walker and the late Thomas Lee Walker. He attended Carroll Boyd grade school in Bracey, and East End High School in South Hill.

Ernest entered in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam for three years. He received an honorable discharge. He was employed as a long distance truck driver for J.B. Hunt for the past 23 years and had received a safe driving award for driving 2 million-plus miles with no accidents. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and cooking.

He leaves to cherish precious memories his wife of 26 years, Yvonne Walker; four children, Tonya of Fairfield, Ca., Linda of Graham, N.C., Tamara of Seattle, Wash., and Timothy of Chicago; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his mother, Thelma F. Walker of Boydton, Va.; three sisters, Frances Scott and Thelma Taylor both of Bronx, N.Y., and Patricia (Ervin) Moore of Woodbury, N.J.; two brothers, James (Agnes) Lambert of Walterboro, S.C., and Earl (Sadie) Walker of Baskerville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, among them his very special friends, Calvin and Gladys Williams.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Lee Walker.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, April 10, 2014, at the chapel of the Oris P. Jones Funeral Establishment in South Hill, Va. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.

HENDERSON — Mary Lou Morris Barnett, 91, of 108 Fernwood Creek Court, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in a local nursing home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, in the Leathers Memorial Chapel at First Baptist Church by Dr. Ronald S. Cava.

Further arrangements will be announced by J.M. White Funeral Home.



Eula M. Perry

NEW YORK — Eula Mae Perry, 68, formerly of Warren County, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at her residence.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. today, April 10, at Greene Family Cemetery in Norlina, N.C., by Rev. L. Faulcon.

Arrangements are by Boyd’s Funeral Services.



James N. Roberson

HENDERSON — James Nelson Roberson, of Senior Citizens Nursing Home, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014.

A private graveside service will be held at Sunset Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the home of Virginia E. Roberson, 144 Garden Walk Drive.
