Brent C. Morton

HENDERSON — Brent Cleveland Morton, 58, of 1005 Forest Hills Drive, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of Roy Cleveland and Margaret Forsythe Morton of Henderson.

Mr. Morton retired as northern area sales manager at Durham Coca-Cola Inc. after 37 years as a dedicated employee. He was a member of South Henderson Church of God, where he served as treasurer of the Men’s Bible Class and the Men’s Fellowship.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 11 a.m. at South Henderson Church of God, conducted by the Rev. Gary Harper. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving are his wife, Angela Vaughan Morton; a daughter, Amy Suzanne Morton of the home; a son, Jonathan Brent Morton of Louisburg; a sister, Pat M. Cleaton and husband Michael of Henderson; and two grandchildren, Hayden Morton and Karsyn Morton.

The family will receive friends today, July 1, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at South Henderson Church of God. All other times, they will be at the home, 1005 Forest Hills Drive, Henderson.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Richard Jones, Coy Aiken, Larry Buchanan, Kenny Abbott, Junior Manning, Steve Mazus, V.W. Denton, Shane Pulley and Charlie Dunston.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to South Henderson Church of God, 125 J.P. Taylor Road, Henderson, NC 27537.

Roy R. Perdue

HENDERSON — Roy Rodwell Perdue, 75, of 323 Murphy Road, died Monday, June 30, 2014, at Select Specialty Hospital in Durham.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Mattie Parrish Perdue.

Mr. Perdue was a retired painter. He was a member and deacon at Blessed Hope Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Chapel, conducted by Dr. Donald A. Perkinson. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys Gene Perdue; two sons, Don Perdue and Wayne Perdue, both of Henderson; two sisters, Ada P. White and Shirley P. Allgood, both of Henderson; two brothers, Kenneth Perdue and Albert Lee Perdue, both of Henderson; and two grandchildren, Erin Perdue and Jason Perdue.

The family will receive friends today, July 1, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home, 323 Murphy Road, Henderson.

The deacons of Blessed Hope Baptist Church will serve as active pallbearers.

Clarence A. Wilkins

HENDERSON — Clarence Anthony Wilkins, 50, son of the late Diane Wilkins and Clarence Evans Jr., departed his life on June 28, 2014.

Clarence was born Nov. 12, 1963, in Vance County.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Clara Evans.

He was survived by his son, Anthony La’Shaw Burwell; four brothers; and seven sisters.

Funeral arrangements will be at Young Memorial in Greystone at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3.

The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Carolyn Wilkins Wilkerson, of 280 Crowder Lane, Henderson NC 27537.

CHAPEL HILL — Dorothy Mae Moore Barker, 86, died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Wynwood Brookdale Senior Living in Chapel Hill.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Grassy Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Woodrow Freeze. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Viewing will be today, July 1, from noon to 6 p.m. in the chapel of Davis-Royster Funeral Service and at the church one hour prior to the service.
