Edna P. Pernell

HENDERSON — Edna Poythress Pernell, 89, of 2240 U.S. 401 S., Warrenton, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at a local nursing home.

Born in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late John William Poythress and Myla Young Poythress. She was the widow of Perry Macon Pernell.

Mrs. Poythress was a retired owner and operator of Pernell’s Grocery Store. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held today, at 2 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Seth Miller and the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving are three sons, Raeford M. Pernell and wife, Margaret, of Warrenton, Ronnie E. Pernell and wife, Gail, of Timberlake, and J. Kenneth Pernell and wife, Dale, of Warrenton; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys P. Beasley and Elizabeth P. Ayscue; and four brothers, Forest Poythress, Fred Poythress, Raymond Poythress and Leon Poythress.

The family received friends Monday, April 8, 2013, from 7-8:30 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home, 2240 U.S. 401 S., Warrenton.

Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, 2493 US Hwy. 401 S., Warrenton, NC 27589.

WARRENTON — Carolyn B. Neely, 69, of 305 E. Bute St., Warrenton, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Duke University Hospital in Durham.

Kathy E. Webster

CREEDMOOR — Kathy Estes Webster, 61, a longtime resident of Wake County, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Durham Regional Hospital in Durham.

A native of Granville County, she was the daughter of the late George Leon Estes.

She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, worked at Pepsi Bottling Company for many years and ran her own cleaning business.

Funeral services will be conducted today, at 2 p.m., at the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by the Rev. Dan Hill and the Rev. Thomas Lamm. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor.

Surviving are a daughter, Rita Newcomb Williams of Oxford; her mother, Dera Beck Estes of Wake Forest; a sister, Brenda Estes Davis of Stem; and a granddaughter.

Visitation took place Monday, April 8, 2013, from 7-8:30 p.m., at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at the home of her mother.
