Thomas Bullock Sr.

MANSON — Thomas “Bo” Bullock Sr., 84, of 688 Manson Drewry Road in Manson, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Granville Health Systems in Oxford.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Oak Level United Church of Christ in Manson. The Rev. Leon White, pastor, will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include: his wife, Hattie G. Bullock of the home; two daughters, Maggie Anderson of Whiteville and Catherine Scott of Henderson; one son, Thomas Bullock Jr. of the home; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Eller Bullock of Henderson.

The body will be on view Friday, April 5, 2013, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.

Leroy Hargrove

WARRENTON — Leroy Hargrove, 67, of 297 Read Road in Warrenton, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 5, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton. The Rev. Lewis Galloway will officiate and burial will follow in Oak Level United Church of Christ Cemetery in Manson.

Survivors include: one son, Leroy Hargrove Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four sisters, Loretta Burchette of the home, and Helen, Christina and Carolyn, all of Warrenton; and six brothers, Johnnie, Thurman, Charles, Leonard and Kennedy, all of Warrenton, and Bobby of Manson.

The body will be on view today, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.

Gertrude D. Mayfield

HENDERSON — Gertrude Davis Mayfield, 98, a resident of Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Henderson, died Friday, March 29. 2013.

She was born in Warren County on July 2, 1914, to the late Enoch and Adell Davis.

She was employed with the former J P. Taylor Tobacco Company until her retirement. She joined Greenwood Baptist Church at an early age and later joined Jones Chapel Baptist Church where she served until her health failed.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Jones Chapel Baptist Church in Warrenton with Pastor Anthony Alston officiating; interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include: one daughter, Serena Buie of Patterson, N.J.; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister: Mittie Williams of Corona, N.Y.

Viewing will take place Friday, April 5, 2013, from noon-6 p.m., at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family is receiving friends at 1350 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Warrenton.

Harold H. Nau

RIDGEWAY — Harold Henry Nau, 87, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in Blacksburg, Va.

Barbara H. Perry

HENDERSON — Barbara Beatrice Henderson Perry, 72, of 120 Hamilton St., Henderson, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Granville Medical Center of Oxford.

She was born Dec. 2, 1940, to the late Aurthur and Eleanor Henderson.

Perry was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the usher board and was a member of the mass choir and senior choir.

She was employed with the former J.P. Taylor Tobacco Company and worked on the farm for many years. She was a member of 39 Social Club.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Elder Richard Batts, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Junious L. Perry; five daughters, Sharon Lucas, Jacqueline Bates, Brenda Davis, Audrey LeMay, Charlotte Richardson; one son: Michael Henderson; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Author Henderson of Oxford and Harrylee Henderson of Allentown. Pa.

A viewing will take place Friday, April 5, 2013, from noon-6 p.m., at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Elijah Perry Jr.

WARRENTON — Elijah Perry Jr., 59, of 121 Sylvester Davis Drive, Warrenton, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.

He was born in Bronx. N.Y., on March 31, 1953, to Elijah Perry and Lena Ben Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Williams Perry.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 5, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Union Grove Baptist Church in Warrenton and interment will follow in the church cemetery.

A viewing will take place today, from noon-6 p.m., at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Frances D. Pulley

HENDERSON — Frances Daniel Pulley, 86, a resident of 76 Terrace Ave., Henderson, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at her home.

Willie H. Richardson

VANCE COUNTY — Willie Henry Richardson, 59, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, in Raleigh.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of Willie Mae McKnight Richardson and the late George Henry Richardson.

At an early age he joined Rowland Chapel Church and was a 1971 graduate of the former Henderson Institute.
 
He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He graduated from Vance-Granville Community College, where he studied electrical engineering.

Surviving is his mother of the home. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by: his sisters, Bettie and Bertha Richardson; and one brother, Larry Donnell Richardson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Concord Baptist Church in Kittrell, with the Rev. S.E. Blalock, presiding. A eulogy will be delivered by the Rev. Charles McKnight Sr., assisted by the Rev. Clarence LeMay, the Rev. Ophelia Mims and the Rev. Geraldine Daye. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites.

The family will receive friends at 168 Elsie Street, Henderson. Viewing will take place at E.C. Terry’s Funeral Service Chapel on Friday, April 5, 2013, from 2-8 p.m., and at the church Saturday, April 6, 2013, from 1-2 p.m.

Floral bearers and pallbearers will be cousins and family friends.

Melvin L. Simpson

ROUGEMONT — Melvin Lynn Simpson, 65, a lifetime resident of Person County, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his home.

A native of Person County, he was the widower of Wilma Pennell Simpson, and the son of the late Alvin Durant and Gladys Oakley Simpson. He was an U.S. Army veteran, was of the Baptist faith, a former tobacco farmer and a retired construction foreman for Southern Industrial Contractors for 21 years.
 
Funeral service will be conducted Friday, April 5, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by the Rev. Keith Williams and the Rev. Gerald Thomas. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Survivors include: his wife, Frances Miller Simpson of the home; a son, Michael Simpson of Rougemont; two daughters, Tammy S. Williford and Sandra L. Simpson, both of Roxboro; two sisters, Kaye Glasscock of Rougemont and Donnie Ann Horton of Timberlake; a brother, Alvin “Butch” Simpson of Rougemont; and three grandchildren.

Flowers are acceptable or contributions may be made to Durham VA Medical Center, Attention: Volunteer Service (135), 508 Fulton Street, Durham, North Carolina 27705.

Visitation will take place today, from 7-8:30 p.m., at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and other times at the home.

Frederick E. Vick Jr.

HENDERSON — Frederick Earl “Ricky” Vick Jr., 57, a resident of 2745 Stewart Farm Road, Henderson died, Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at his home.

Born in Yuma, Ariz., on Feb. 22, 1956, he was the son of the late Frederick Earl Vick Sr. and the late Delores Thompson Vick. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Sunset Gardens by the Rev. Tim Burgress.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Jewel Bowden Vick of the home; one son, Jeffery Vick of the home; and two grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tracy Lynn Vick.
 
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 6, 2013, from, noon-1:30 p.m., at the J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home at 2745 Stewart Farm Road, Henderson.
