Harold W. Gooch

Granville County — Harold Winston Gooch, 80, of Franklinton, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Granville County on Nov. 1, 1932, the son of the late Edgar Newton Gooch and Lorine Henley Gooch. He graduated from Wilton High School in 1951, where he played baseball. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church where he served as deacon for many years. Gooch was the owner and operator of Gooch’s Grocery for over 40 years. He spent much of his time rabbit hunting and was an avid baseball fan who would watch his grandchildren play ball in his later years.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Mt. Carmel Christian Church by the Rev. Don Owen. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lucille Mitchell Gooch of the home; a daughter, Gail Gooch Bullock; a son, Eddie Harold Gooch; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Gooch Pruitt and Sue Gooch Bunn. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wayne Gooch; and a brother, Robert Earl Gooch.

Omission of flowers is requested and memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Christian Church, c/o Claire Parham, Treasurer, 5536 Antioch Road, Oxford, North Carolina 27565; American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004; or Hock Family Pavilion, 4023 North Roxboro Street, Durham, North Carolina 27704.

Visitation will be held today, from 6-7:30 p.m., at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and other times at his home.

Renee P. Parham

OXFORD — Renee Parker Parham, 56, a longtime resident of Granville County, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

A native of Mahoning County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late George Malcolm and Doris Hute Parker. She was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church and worked for many years with her husband in the mobile home business.

Memorial services will be conducted Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Mountain Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Johnny Richards and the Rev. LeMar Wheeler.

Surviving are her husband of 22 years, Alex “Catfish” L. Parham of the home; a daughter, Rebekah Colinger Nelson of Oxford, a son, Ryan Derek Colinger of Lynchburg, Va.; a sister, Gail P. McClain of Palm Beach County, Fla.; a brother, Kim Parker of Wake Forest; and five grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted; or memorials may be made to the family to help with medical expenses, 2716 Davis Chapel Road, Oxford, North Carolina 27565.

Visitation will take place today, from 7-8:30 p.m., at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and other times at the home.

Barbara H. Perry

HENDERSON — Barbara Beatrice Henderson Perry, 72, of 120 Hamilton St., Henderson, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Granville Medical Center in Oxford.

Samuel F. Tart

RALEIGH — Samuel Furman Tart, 53, of Raleigh, died Monday, April 1, 2013.

He was born Oct. 10, 1959, to Willie Furman and Mattie Williams Tart.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel with the Rev. Robert Collier officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery in Wake Forest.

In addition to his parents Samuel is survived by his wife, Sheri Murray Tart; his daughter, Samantha Tart of Franklinton; his grandchild; his brother, Steve Tart of Franklinton; and his sister, Diane Williams of Stem.

The family will receive friends today, from 7-8:30 p.m., at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd., Louisburg.
