Helen D. Currin

OXFORD — Helen Daniel Currin, age 90, of Oxford, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Brantwood.

A native of Granville County, she was the daughter of the late James (Jim) Madison and Mollie Daniel and the wife of the late James Marvin Currin. Mrs. Currin attended Hester Baptist Church and was a retired member of the N.C. State Employees Association.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home by Dr. Randy Bridges. Burial will follow in Hester Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Surviving is a son, James Daniel (Danny) Currin (Ginnie Lee) of Oxford; daughters, Linda Ann C. Munn of Oxford and Cynthia Rose Currin Gajdosik (Steve) of Knightdale; grandchildren, Dr. Jeffrey Lenard Munn (Kathy), James Michael Munn (Elizabeth), Jennifer Lee Currin Ports (Cullen), Megan Daniel Currin, Stephen Andrew Gajdosik Jr. and John Daniel Gajdosik; great-grandchildren, Austin Michael Munn, Lauren Abilgail Munn, Ashley Evan Munn and Libby Ann Munn. He was preceded in death by sisters, Lucy Daniel Parrott, Nellie Daniel Parrott Dickerson; brothers, Willie Daniel and Walter Daniel.

James T. Hight

OXFORD — James Thomas “Tom” Hight, age 87, of Oxford, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013.

A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late Robert Benton and Effie Sims Hight. Tom was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Enon Baptist Church and delivered “Meals on Wheels.”

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Enon Baptist Church by the Rev. Steve Brown and the Rev. James C. Shelley Jr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11 a.m. prior to the service in the fellowship hall of the church.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Jean O’Brian Hight; sons, James Thomas “Jimmy” Hight (Rebecca) of Wilmington and Stephen O’Brian Hight (Amy) of Oxford; a brother, William E. Hight (Pat) of Oxford; a sister, Nellie H. Stroud of Tarboro; a granddaughter, Jo Lind Letterman (Jim) of Youngsville; and a great-grandson, Levi James Letterman of Youngsville. Tom was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence “Snake” Hight and Robert Benton Hight Jr.

Mary T. Allen

HENDERSON — Mary Emma Terry Allen, 58, of 95 Lone Wolf Dr., Henderson, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at her residence. She was born in Vance County on March 13, 1954 to the late Allen Terry and Myrtle Miles Terry. She was educated in Vance County Schools and attended Vance Granville Community College.

She joined St. Andrews Christian Church at a young age and later moved her membership to New Life Church.

She was employed with Dr. James Green and Maria Parham Medical Center for many years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at 2:30 p.m., at New Life Church in Henderson, with Pastor Myron Henderson officiating.

Survivors include: her husband, Willie R. Allen of Henderson; a daughter, Loretta Terry of the home; three sons, Dennis Henderson Waddell, Willie Henderson and Michael Waddell, all of Henderson; two sisters: Queen Terry and Virginia Terry, both of Henderson; seven brothers: Allen Terry, J.R., Kenneth Terry and Ervin Terry, all of Henderson; Bobby Terry of New Jersey, Theodore Terry of Greensboro, Donald Ray Terry of Virginia Beach, Va., and Roosevelt Terry of Sumter, S.C.

Viewing will take place Saturday, from noon-6 p.m., at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family is receiving friends at the residence.

Donald Burnette

HENDERSON — Donald Burnette, a resident of 354 Breeze Hill Lane, Henderson, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by J. M. White Funeral Home.

Lizzie P. Daye

HENDERSON — Lizzie Belle Person Daye, 96, of 142 Summerfield Lane, Henderson, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at her residence.

She was born in Vance County and the daughter of the late Plummer and Frances Crudup Person.

She was educated in the Vance County Public School and joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Kittrell at an early age.

Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Shiloh Baptist Church in Kittrell by the Rev. Spencer Davis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include: two daughters, Susie B. McKnight of New Jersey and Marie Kearney of the home; one sister, Martha Hunter of Durham; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
The family is receiving friends at the residence. The body will be on view at the funeral home today, from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and at the church one hour before the service.

Ida M. Noblin

OXFORD — Ida Mae Noblin, 92, of Oxford, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013.

A native of Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Martha Maude Breedlove Noblin. She was a member of Stovall Baptist Church where she served as financial secretary for many years, a member of Delrayno Baptist Church and a retired employee of Roses Store.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home by the Rev. D.L. Page. Burial will follow at Stovall Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Survivors include: one brother, Dan Noblin of Oxford. Noblin was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Noblin Jr. and Paul H. Noblin; and sisters, Josphine Huff and Christine Strickland.

Leslie Richardson

WARRENTON — Leslie Richardson, 48, of 151 Greentown Ave. in Warrenton, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by Boyd’s Funeral Services in Warrenton.


Willie Perry

HENDERSON — Willie Perry, 82, of 1326 Nicholas St., Henderson, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.

He was born Nov. 1, 1930, in Warren County, to the late Harriet Perry.

He attended Warren County Schools. At an early age, he joined Fork Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and was a faithful member. He retired from Boyd Chevrolet after 56 years of service.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Fork Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Warrenton, with the Rev. Eddie Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie B. Perry; a daughter, Debra Hargrove of Warrenton; and two grandchildren.

Viewing will be held Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, from noon-6 p.m., at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1326 Nicholas St., Henderson.
