Lena W. Orr

KITTRELL — Lena Wooten Orr, 90, of 714 J.A. Rogers Road, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Brantwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oxford.

Born in Fort Myers, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Delmar Lucious Wooten and Lena Maybelle Tiner Wooten.

She was the widow of Thomas Grant Orr Sr.

Mrs. Orr was a homemaker. She was a member of South Henderson Church of God.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Flowers Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ernie Bowes and the Rev. Gary Harper. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving are a daughter, Juanita O. Dudley and husband Don of Rocky Point; a son, Timothy D. Orr and wife Faye of Kittrell; a brother, Delmar “Bud” Wooten of North Fort Myers, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Grant Orr Jr.; three sisters, Dorothy W. Musselwhite, Theresa W. Hall and Pearl W. Hall; and two brothers, Andrew Wooten and Wesley Wooten.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 2, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Larry Wells, Nicholas Turcotte, Thomas G. Wells, Christopher Orr, John Dibbins, Raymond Pendergrass, David Hilliard and Marion Pergerson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Diabetes Association, 2418 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 206, Raleigh, NC 27607, or to The National Cancer Institute, Building 31, Room 11A-16, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892.

Dennis A. Clark

HENDERSON — Dennis Allen Clark, age 59, a resident of Henderson, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

Born in Vance County on Oct. 18, 1954, he was the son of Helen West Clark and James Allen Clark of Henderson.

Dennis served in the N.C. National Guard. He was retired from City Tire, Inc., and was a member of City Road United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be held today, April 1, at 3 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Jake Roberson and the Rev. Cleveland Harrison.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Deborah Cox Clark of the home; one step-daughter, Nicole Stallings of Henderson; three sisters, Pam C. Hughes and husband Lee of Henderson, Dianne C. Roberts and husband Charles of Summerfield and Kim C. Blalock of Henderson; two grandchildren, Cody Dement and Matthew Dement; two nephews, Anthony Wade and wife Jennifer and Chad Wade and wife Katie; and four nieces, Heather Wade, Tiffany Isgett and husband Matt, Shelby Roberts and Callie Roberts.

The family will receive friends at the home of Helen and James Clark, at 1269 Oakridge Ave.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

HENDERSON — May Allgood Roberson, 79, of 445 Alexander Ave., died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Universal Healthcare in Oxford.

Born in Mecklenburg County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Allgood and Essie Corrine Dunn Allgood.

Mrs. Roberson was a retired certified nurse’s assistant. She was a member of Mt. Ararat Pentecostal Holiness Church.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Flowers Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Allen R. Ayscue.

Surviving are four daughters, Carol R. Lassiter of Henderson, Jessie R. Parks of Bradenton, Fla., Emily Lou R. Trammell of Henderson and Margie Roberson of Warrenton; a son, Lewis Taylor “Jack” Roberson of the home; four sisters, Alein King of Kenbridge, Va., Betty Keith of Creedmoor, Dorothy Moss of Henderson and Vivian Bragg of Franklinton; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Roberson; a great-granddaughter, Emily Faye Roberson; and three brothers, Benjamin F. Allgood Jr., Lewis A. Allgood and William E. Allgood.

The family will receive friends at the home, 445 Alexander Ave., Henderson.

HENDERSON — Leonard C. Burroughs, 83, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Harris-Bullock Assisted Living Center.

A memorial service will be held at noon Friday, April 4, at Wright Funeral Home in Oxford.

OXFORD — Helen Chavis Hargrove, 78, died Monday, March 31, 2014, at Duke Regional Hospital.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at United Christian Fellowship Church.

Viewing will be Friday, April 4, at Wright Funeral Home.

HENDERSON — Samuel McDonald Henderson died Saturday, March 26, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today, April 1, at Oak Level United Church of Christ in Manson by Pastor Leon White. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be at the church for one hour prior to the service.
