Nash H. King

HENDERSON — Nash Helton King, age 90, a resident of 3095 N. Lynnbank Road, Henderson, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

Born on Oct. 13, 1923 in Bladen County, he was the son of the late Lester Helton King and Rannie Kinlaw King.

Mr. King was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He was retired from Roses Stores, Inc. and was a member of Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ where he was a member of the Bible class and served as a deacon and trustee.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 31, at Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ by Rev. Tammy Ayscue.

Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Edna Harp King of the home; one daughter, Nancy K. Franklin and husband, Wayne of Henderson; two sons, Bobby N. King and wife, Margaret of Midlothian, Va., and Larry T. King and wife, Deborah of Henderson; five grandchildren, Karen K. Dyson and husband Ricky, Kevin W. Franklin and wife, Kim, Wendy N. Franklin, Ian C. King, and Cayton A. King; one great grandson, Dallas Roberson; four sisters, Rachel K. Russ of Dublin, Ruthie K. Byrd of Tar Heel, Wilma K. Bedsole of Elizabethtown,, and Paula K. Zimberg of Henderson; and two brothers, William King of Bunnlevel and Murray Charles King of Clarkton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ernestine K. Davis and Mary Thelma K. Davis.

The family will receive friends Monday immediately following the service at Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ.

At other times they will be at the home at 3095 N. Lynnbank Road, Henderson.

Serving as active pall bearers will be Kevin Franklin, Cayton King, Sonny Coghill, Donald Coghill, Chris Pendergrass, T.T. (Buster) Beckham, II, Herbie Grissom, Billy Stanton, Preston Floyd, Alan Hedgepeth, Patricia Burns, Dolores Grissom, Patty Gillespie, and Christy Pulley.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ, c/o Christy Pulley, 772 Edwards Road, Henderson, NC 27537.

Elsie B. Peoples

HENDERSON — Elsie Bailey Peoples, age 77, a former resident of Gun Club Road, Henderson, died Thursday, March 27, 2014, in a local nursing home.

Born in Johnston County on Nov. 6, 1936, she was the daughter of the late George Glenn Bailey and Martha Brown Bailey, and was the widow of Clifton McDonald Peoples.

She was a retired private duty certified nursing assistant and was a member of Central Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery for many years.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bruce Beck.

Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

She is survived by one daughter, Teresa P. Smith of Henderson; two son, Joseph B. Peoples of Youngsville and Clifton McDonald Peoples, Jr., of Charlotte; two sisters, Shirley B. Hatcher of Long Beach, and Kathryn B. Phipps of Edenton; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Bailey and Kenneth Bailey; and a sister, Faye B. Conner.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 31 at J. M. White Funeral Home.

At other times, they will be at the home of Teresa and Thomas Smith at 748 Gun Club Road, Henderson.

Serving as active pall bearers will be Joey Peoples, Donnie Peoples, Glenn Parker, Frankie Parker, Jarrett Parker, Moe Casto, and Dickie

Taylor.

Lula M. Satterwhite

HENDERSON — Lula Mary Moss Satterwhite, age 84, a resident of 1245 Park Ave., died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

Born in Vance County on Oct. 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Moss and Edith Renn Moss, and was the widow of Merrell Carlton Satterwhite.

Mrs. Satterwhite was an avid bowler and upholstered furniture for many years in Vance County, and was a former member of Grace Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Will Breedlove and the Rev. Frank Sossamon.

Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

She is survived by four sons, Carlton Satterwhite Jr. and wife Rose and Steve Satterwhite and wife Marilyn of Henderson, Doug Satterwhite and wife Carolyn of Kittrell and Glenn Satterwhite of Henderson; one daughter, Brenda S. Lane of Kittrell; one brother, Allen Moss and wife Esther of Henderson; two sisters, Fannie Pendergrass and husband John of Henderson and Betsy Dement of Creedmoor; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Chever; one sister, Rosa Averette; one brother, Ed Moss; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on today from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Carlton and Rose Satterwhite, at 250 Weybossett Road.

Serving as active pall bearers will be Carlton Satterwhite Jr., Carlton Satterwhite III, Jimmy Waddell, Jimmy Waddell Jr., Greg Brame, John Juntunen, T.J. Satterwhite and Robbie Satterwhite.
