Frank Small

HENDERSON — Frank Small, son of Marie H. Small and the late William Small Sr., was born on Sept. 24, 1953, in Henderson. On March 20, 2014, he entered into eternal rest at Universal Healthcare in Oxford.

He attended Vance County Public Schools. At an early age, he joined Antioch United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his loving mother, Marie H. Small of the home; seven sisters, Eartha L. Small, Mary S. Wilkins, Sophia M. Small, Ann D. Hargrove and Laura H. Eaton, all of Henderson, and Shelia S. King (Hamilton) and Jinnie S. King (Brownerson), both of Kittrell; three brothers, William Small Jr. (Susie), John Hargrove (Mary) of Henderson and Nathaniel (Eva) of Bronx, N.Y.; five aunts, Louise Small, Linda Small and Doris Hanks, all of Henderson, and Eliza Hart and Mary Gwynn, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; a devoted nephew, Tory Small; a devoted niece, Tiffany Small; and a host of other nieces nephews, relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Antioch United Church of Christ by Pastor Kevin Langley. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The body will be on view from noon to 6 p.m. today, March 25, at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family is receiving friends at 567 Grant St.

Thomas R. Roberson

OXFORD — Thomas Ray “Tommy” Roberson, 66, of 2568 Carolyn Court, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, at his home.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Dannie Mitchell and Viola Floyd Roberson.

Mr. Roberson was a former employee of Reco Construction Company. He was a member of the Boilermakers and Hester Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Cosby Roberson; a daughter, Rhonda Rene Roberson of Littleton; a son, Kevin Troy Roberson and wife Tina of Oxford; a sister, Carol R. Newton and husband Eddie of Henderson; a brother, Charles M. Roberson and wife Faye of Henderson; and five grandchildren, Richie Garner, Randi Rene Garner, Troy Roberson, Brandy King and Jerry King Jr.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Sammy K. Roberson.

The family will receive friends at the home.

HENDERSON — Samantha Renee’ Ragland, 37, of 618 Highland Ave., died Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Duke University Medical Center.

HENDERSON — Vivian Brandon Townes, 58, of 294 Red Hill Loop Road, died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at her residence.

Bernice Watkins

OXFORD — Bernice Watkins, 90, of 406 Lanier St., died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at her home.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at Huntsville Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Betts & Son Funeral Home.
