Joseph L. McLaurin

OXFORD — Joseph Lake “Joe” McLaurin, 62, of Oxford died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013.

He was a native of Surry County, son of the late Daniel Archie McLaurin Jr. and Mary Margaret Templeton McLaurin, an active member of the Oxford United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Wesco Heating and Air. He was president of the Triangle Chapter of the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at the Oxford United Methodist Church by Rev. David Haley and Rev. Alan Swartz.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Ginny Muse McLaurin; his daughter, Jenny Rebecca McLaurin (Jamie) Sugg of Winterville; Amanda McLaurin Bouleris (Matt) of Raleigh; Danielle McLaurin Hunter (H.B.) of Concord; his brother Daniel Archie McLaurin III (Judy) of Raleigh; Paul Andrew McLaurin (Jennie) of Ferndale, Wash.; Franklin Glenn McLaurin (Vivian) of Garner; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following the services in the fellowship hall of the church and at other times at the home.

James E. Pulley Jr.

HENDERSON — James Edward “Eddie” Pulley Jr., 58, of 855 Edwards Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at his home.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of Christy Reese Pulley of Henderson and the late James Edward Pulley Sr.

Mr. Pulley was an employee of Charles Boyd Chevrolet Inc. He was a member of Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m., at Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ conducted by the Rev. Tammy Ayscue. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Carolyn Crider Pulley; two sons, E. Allan Pulley and wife, Jodi, of Henderson, and Leighton Cheshire and wife, Amy, of Youngsville; two grandchildren, Allie Jo Pulley and Sutter Reid Cheshire; and a sister, Deborah P. Lassiter and husband, Tommy, of Henderson.

The family will receive friends Friday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home. At all other times, they will be at the home of Christy Pulley, 771 Edwards Road, Henderson.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Ben Norwood, Chris Pulley, Eric Pulley, Gene Pulley, Steve Pulley, Dale Reese, Brian Reese, Benny Pulley and Gary Pulley.

Deborah W. Satterwhite

OXFORD — Deborah Rose “Debbie” Williams Satterwhite, 61, died Nov. 27, 2013, at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh.

She was born in Oxford on June 11, 1952, to Iola Greene (Bittie) Williams and the late Elmus Williams, Jr. She attended Granville County schools. She loved her family and was a very devoted mother and daughter. She loved the simple things in life such as music and flowers. She faced her physical challenges with courage and great faith.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Kristie Rose Satterwhite Hill (Mike) of Zebulon; her son, Westley Satterwhite (Victoria) of Wilmington; her brothers, Jimmy Williams (Glenda) and Danny Williams (Jane), both of Oxford; a grandson, Kyle Satterwhite of Henderson; a granddaughter, Amelia Rose Satterwhite of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Hester Baptist Church by Rev. Alex Gallimore and Rev. Steve Clayton. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the parlor of Hester Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Danny and Jane Williams, 2631 U.S. 158 in Oxford.

Kathryn H. Edwards

HENDERSON — Kathryn Hunt Edwards, 97, formerly of Henderson, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 at Sunrise of Raleigh in Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Chapel. A private burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home.

Michael C. Baskett

WARRENTON — Michael Clifton Baskett, 54, of Warrenton, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m. at Warren County Middle School in Warrenton. Father Mason will officiate and burial will follow at King-Burchette Cemetery in Warrenton.

Viewing is Friday, Nov. 29, from noon to 7 p.m. at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.
