Edgar S. Jackson

HENDERSON — Edgar “Jack” Sherwood Jackson, age 75, a resident of 3130 Southerland Mill Road, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at his home.

Born in Vance County on Dec. 14, 1938, he was the son of the late Edgar Stonewall Jackson and Shirley Overton Jackson. He was a veteran of the United States Army and National Guard. He was a retired from Wal-Mart where he worked as a truck driver.

A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held Sunday, July 20, at 2 p.m. at Sunset Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Judith Dickerson Jackson of the home; two sons, Kenneth Jackson and Dyral Jackson, both of Henderson; a daughter, Kelly Pendley of Henderson; a sister, Shirleen Crocker of Henderson; four brothers, Reavis Jackson, Jerry Jackson and Carl Jackson of Henderson and Wayne Jackson of Franklin County; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Cooper Jackson.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Sunset Gardens. At other times they will be at the home, 3130 Southerland Mill Road, Henderson.

Ethel M. Jones

MACON — Ethel Meyers Jones, 79, of 295 Carroll Town Road, died Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today, July 19, in the chapel of Boyd’s Funeral Services in Warrenton. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Macon.

Viewing was Friday, July 18, from noon to 5 p.m. in the funeral home chapter.

Arrangements are by Boyd’s Funeral Services.


James O. Townes

NEWARK, N.J. — James Otis Townes, 88, formerly of Warren County, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at East Orange General Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20, in the chapel of Boyd’s Funeral Services in Warrenton by the Rev. Carson F. Jones Jr. Burial will follow in Greenwood Baptist Church Cemetery in Warrenton.

Viewing is today, July 19, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
