Thomas K. Smith Jr.
OXFORD — Mr. Thomas Key “Smitty” Smith Jr., age 77, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Granville House.
He was a native of Granville County and the son of the late Thomas Key Smith Sr. and Hattie Leigh Adcock Smith.
Mr. Smith was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. from Providence Baptist Church by Dr. Randy Pittman. Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
Surviving are a brother, David T. Smith (Denise) of Oxford; and sisters Rebecca Lewis of Oxford, Ann Parrott of Oxford, Frances Bullock (Dale) of Oxford, Sally Wynne (Howard) of Kittrell and Hattie Jean Overton (Leonard) of Oxford. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 4603 Old 75, Oxford, NC 27565.

GREENSBORO — Mrs. Sara Livengood Walker, 88, departed from this life on Nov. 3, 2013, at Whitestone Masonic and Eastern Star Home.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 5, at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Henderson with Rev. Frank Sossamon officiating.
Sara was born in Greensboro on Dec. 27, 1925, to the late George and Belle Livengood and was of the Christian faith. She was owner and operator of what used to be The Henderson Credit Bureau. She retired from Nationwide Insurance Company and was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Sandra W. Langston and her husband Wesley of Henderson; her son, Glenn Martin Walker III of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Kathryn L. Gill and husband Paul, Wes Langston, Chris Langston and wife Melinda, all of Henderson, and David Walker and Sarajean Walker, both of Houston, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Beau Langston, Carly Gill and Hunter Gill.
The family will receive friends following the committal service at the cemetery.

WARRENTON — Ms. Fran Tharringon, 53, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, in Warrenton.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home.
Born June 7, 1960, in Warrenton, Ms. Tharrington was the daughter of Gid and Selma Tharrington of Warrenton. She was a member of the Warrenton Baptist Church.
Ms. Tharrington is survived by her daughter, Lindsey Wrenn Davidson and husband Ben of Henderson; one brother, Keith Tharrington and wife Sally of Palmer Springs, Va.; and one granddaughter, Morgan Leigh Davidson.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Blaylock Funeral Home in Warrenton.

RICHMOND, Va. — Jesse J. Jones, 88, of Richmond, Va., died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Quioccasin Baptist Church, 9011 Quioccasin Road, Richmond, Va., by Dr. Andrew D. Mosley with a eulogy by Rev. Kevin Blalock. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

OXFORD — Nancy Driggs Hawkins Newton, 72, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 5, at Central Baptist Church in Henderson. A graveside service will follow in Chase City, Va.
Visitation was Monday, Nov. 4, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford.
