Eleanor F. Dickens
KITTRELL — Eleanor Fowler Dickens, 87, a resident of 168 Monroe Dickens Road, Kittrell, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Louisburg Nursing Center in Louisburg.
Born on Feb. 23, 1925, in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Len Fowler and Ollie Ball Fowler.
She was preceded in death by her husband Monroe Thomas Dickens.
An active member of Ebernezer United Methodist, she served as a former deacon, treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and member of the church choir.
A private burial was held on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in the Ebernezer United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
David L. Harris
OXFORD — David Lee Harris, 58, a resident of 921-A Goshen St., Oxford, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Granville Medical Center.
He was born to the parentage of the late John William and Sarah Harris.
He attended Granville County Schools and he was an employee with the City of Oxford for over 15 years.
Survivors include; his wife, Denise Harris of Durham; two daughters, Amanda Bullock and Yolanda Bullock; two granddaughters; three sisters, Shirley Mae Moore, Nancy Harris and Dorothy Harris, all of Oxford; seven brothers, Early Ray Harris, Edward Harris, Aggie Harris, Ed Junior Harris and Waddel Harris, all of Oxford, Tommy Lee Harris of Henderson and Roy Lee Harris of Morristown, N.J.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, in the Betts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with eulogy by the Rev. Kenny Hester. Interment will follow in the Meadowview Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 7-8 p.m., at the funeral home and other times at and 105-B Griffin St., Oxford.

GRANVILLE COUNTY — Vester “Homer” Parrish, 74, of Wake Forest, formerly of Henderson, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012.
He was the son of the late Herman Hilton Parrish and Lucy Gupton Parrish. He served in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He retired from Bishop Paint & Wallpaper as a painter. He was of the Holiness faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Riley Parrish; two sons, Wayne and Glenn Riley; one daughter, Sheryl Riley; and one brother, Robert “Tony” Parrish.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane Riley Black; brother, Jackie Parrish; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.
Graveside service will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Terry Howard and the Rev. David Edwards will officiate.

OXFORD — Alexander Peace, 68, of 609-A Raleigh St., Oxford, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at his residence.
The family is receiving friends at the home of Margaret Peace, 432 Birch St., Henderson.

Helen W. Sadler
WARRENTON — Helen Claudia Williams Sadler died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Morning View Retirement in Greensboro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William C. and Florence Hope Thompson Williams; and her son, Winston Courtney Sadler.
Sadler is survived by her husband, Courtney I. Sadler.
Dr. Rick Miller will conduct funeral services Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Blaylock Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gardner’s Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.

RALEIGH — Leola Person Surles, 81, of 2802 Laodicea Drive, Raleigh, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Duke University Hospital in Raleigh.

Shirley D. White
KITTRELL — Shirley Lee Davis White, 77, of 260 Lynnbank Estate Road, Kittrell, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Maria Parham Medical Center.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late George and Catherine Naomi Melchoir Davis.
Chapel service will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 6, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Davis-Royster Funeral Service by the Rev. Clarence LeMay. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Survivors include three daughters, Renée Bennett, Kim Cooper and Susan Harris; three sons, Alvin White, George White and Joseph White; one brother, Steven Davis; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends at the residence. The body will be on view Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at the funeral home from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Helen C. Wilkerson
OXFORD — Helen Cooper Wilkerson, 94, a resident of 6104 Pinetown Road, Oxford, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Hock Pavilion in Durham. She was the daughter of the late Elijah Cooper and Lucy Thorpe Cooper.
She is survived by one daughter, Ernestine W. Downey of the home; one son, William Thomas Wilkerson of Oxford; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Wright Funeral Chapel by the Rev. John Gooch, Burial will be in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., at Wright Funeral Home.
