Gracia H. Bobbitt
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Gracia H. Bobbitt died Friday, July 5, 2013 in Knoxville in her 90th year.
Gracia Hunt Harris Bobbitt was born in Vance County, N.C., on April 1, 1924, the daughter of Snethen Philip Johnson Harris and Mary Brown Harris. She lived almost her entire life in Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Harrison Bobbitt, Jr.; sister Livy Harris Robertson; brother S. Philip Harris, Jr.; and sister Fannie Harris Crumpler.
She is survived by her daughter Gracia E. Bobbitt and son-in-law Harold Roth of Knoxville; daughter Frances Bobbitt Sutton and son-in-law Whit Sutton of Cape Carteret, N.C.; grandson Patrick Sutton (Tracy) of Franklinton, N.C.; granddaughter Tracey Sutton McCoy of Raleigh, N.C.; and two great-granddaughters, Maddie and Alyx Sutton. She is also survived by two brothers, John W. Harris of Edmond, Okla., and George D. Harris (Sandi) of Knoxville, and several nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of The Church of the Holy Innocents in Henderson; and she volunteered with the library. She retired from full-time employment in 1989, but she returned to the accounting firm of Phillips, Dorsey, Thomas, Waters and Brafford for many years to prepare tax returns during “tax season.”
A memorial service will be held in Henderson at The Church of the Holy Innocents on Friday, July 12, 2013, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in her memory be made to The Church of the Holy Innocents, 210 South Chestnut Street, Henderson, NC 27536.

Rosa D. Pittman
HENDERSON — Rosa Lee Davis Pittman, age 86, a resident of 1107 Eaves Road, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at her home.
Born on April 19, 1927, in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Russell Davis and Eva Boykin Davis, and was the widow of Gary Edwin Pittman. Mrs. Pittman was a homemaker and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Michael Wilkes. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. in Langley Cemetery in Kenly.
She is survived by four daughters — Sylvia Cathy P. Keaton, Bonnie P. Wagner, and Bernice Pittman, all of Henderson, and Connie P. Stewart of Springfield, Mo.; two sons — Ronald Edwin Pittman and Clifton Earl Pittman both of Henderson; one sister, Thelma Bissette of Sims; one brother, Donnie Davis of Sims; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home in the Epsom community. Serving as active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 152 Zeb Robinson Road, Henderson, NC 27537.

William R. Wortham
KITTRELL — William Robert “Bob” Wortham, age 81, a resident of 2038 Walter Grissom Road, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at his home.
Born in Warren County on May 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Wortham and Mary Ellen Camron Wortham. He was a retired heavy equipment operator.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tony Broome and the Rev. Ralph E. McGowan. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Finch Wortham of the home; two daughters — Rita W. Benac of Kittrell, and Holly W. Griffin of St. Augustine, Fla.; one sister — Mable W. Salerno of New Jersey; four grandchildren — Ellen Grantham, Tracey Ruffin, Crystal Stallings, and Jason Smith; and eight great-grandchildren — Donovan, Tyler, Parker, Jeremiah, Alyssa, Karli, Karsyn and J.T. He was preceded in death by seven siblings.
The family received friends Monday night from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Ray Ranes, Brent West, Jerry Patterson, Joe Matthews, Mike Faulkner, Kermit Mobley, William Blanton Hartness and Steve Camm.

Annie C. Batchelor
HENDERSON — Annie “Katie” Catherine Williams Batchelor, 96, died Friday, July 5, 2013, at her residence.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in Rowland Chapel Christian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will be on view on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, from noon to 6 p.m.
